Yo, this is Juico. The guy in the brown gi in this video. Not assuming anybody cares but for those that do, I just wanted to jump in and give an opportunity to clear some things up and do an AMA. Shout out to the homies and team mates I train with here trying to clear things up! I won't be responding to all the previous comments because, well that's a lot to go through. Juico just received his blue belt last weekend. At the Fight Factory in Austin, we believe that, though white and blue belts should be focused on developing fundamentals and understanding, they should also be exposed to various parts of the advanced game. Juico was paying attention and, more importantly, drilling this move exhaustively. A properly applied technique knows no belt..and the same applies to a properly applied defense.

Ref looked like he was preparing him for an open casket funeral. Jesus. I remember back when I was a white belt and rolling like my life depended on it, I had a few close calls. I did a Peruvian on one guy and it was a loud open mat, he had no hands free to tap and he couldn’t tap out with his feet either. He had been trying to verbally tap (I later found out he was screaming) but myself and nobody else could hear him. I let go as I felt his body go limp and waited for him to come around. Not nice at all and to be avoided if possible!

He is a wrestler. That's why he looks so fluid. Everything he did, from the initial throw (that failed), to the headlock, snap down, go behind, into a cradle that transitioned into the choke... all wrestling. If you have kids and want them to be good at jujitsu, you can get them on a wrestling mat at 5 years old.

@@JaysSavvy That wasn't a headlock, it was a guillotine, which I realize is known in wrestling as a front headlock and the wrestling guillotine is a very different technique. Headlocks in wrestliing without an arm in are illegal. That BJJ guillotine used a gi grip and gripping clothing in wrestling is illegal. I never saw any snap down but the collar drag takedown was done perfectly fine as it accomplished the goal it was intended for. And there was absolutely no go behind whatsoever. Also chokes of any sort are complete verbotten in wrestling. So no, that wasn't all wrestling. At least not what I learned in High School.

At the beginning of the 2nd roll the guy was out, at the completion his right arm lay flat on the mat about 5secs before he let him go. thank god the winner was playing attention. Still that was a vicous choke well executed and very effective guy was out in secs. I'm glad he was ok definitely won't forget how that felt anytime soon probably won't get caught like that again anytime soon. Never seen a white belt choke like that before

A lotta guys at my old dojo (Shout Out JJ Machado, oss oss) were white belts unless and until going to competitions - regardless of the match outcome. Some of the dojo family were soldiers and cops who ended up leaving for work, coming back much later. Not having completed the appropriate program of study to promote, they generally remained white belts - But - white belts that could tear up a blue belt any day. (Although, some folks made blue without competing.) Guys like this, I call them 3 year white belts. Been rolling on the mat, know their fundamentals, and have some tricks and ace cards to play. Wonderful execution, and honorable response, to locking in the submission.

White belts of today are on the average, blue belts of 10 years ago. Blue belts today could do quite well against black belts of 10-15 years ago. This due to the exceptional teaching available today and resources like KZbin.

Missed the shoulder toss, recovered, went for a cow-catcher/headlock, then a snap down/go behind, into a cradle... all wrestling. He didn't use Jujitsu until the cradle was sunk and he transitioned the cradle into a choke.

Yesterday I competed on my very first tournament as a white belt and unfortunately got caught in this same choke on my very first match. My opponent set the choke up while we started standing…I took him down, landed on his half guard and he let me pass his guard while choking me at the same time…little did I know, I was going to sleep 5 seconds later. All I remember is the ref holding my legs up (trying to bring me back to consciousness lol) The baseball bat choke is such a deceiving move. You think you’re safe until it’s too late to tap. I guess you live and learn 🫡

People need to chill. I’m sure the guy works hard but it’s just a loop choke. You could learn that and how to loop the leg in fifteen minutes. Getting one solid choke on an opponent doesn’t mean you’re sand bagging or a prodigy. Particularly at white belt level. If he choked out three opponents in a row like this, I’d be suspicious. But a while belt with one solid move could easily slap in on another more casual opponent at a white belt level. It doesn’t mean he’s some kind of ringer.
