White belt wrestler vs Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt

I want to give props to both competitors here. The white belt wrestler is and will be a phenomenal grappler. His wrestling combined with jits later on is an incredible combination. The black belt here was also amazing. He's definitley using his skills, knowledge, flexiblity, etc to tame a young buck and trap him into places he's not ready to venture into. I'd get my head handed to me by both these guys....buts that BJJ.....your ego will get smashed and you come back for more and you get better for it....cheers!

huge kudos to the wrestler to even think of doing this, im sure he would of enjoyed the match more if his opponent was someone who liked to wrestle up as much as he did, but the black belt being much slower and older having to resort to his knowledge against a much faster and stronger opponent is also to be applauded. ( i also hate it when people pull gaurd but its part of the sport)

I really hate that sitting down/butt scooting bullshit so many of these guys do. I started Jiu Jitsu to learn how to defend myself, and you would NEVER sit on the ground on purpose in an actual fight. It’s ridiculous. Might be ok for a tournament but builds bad habits when it’s for real.

Nah bro, we live in Oregon. We carry guns. No one fighting in the streets. We do jiu jitsu for a lifestyle. And even though I am wrestler myself and love throwing people on their heads. Pulling guard is part of the game, if a guy is a better wrestler than me, I’m pulling guard and sweeping his ass 😂 just gotta learn all aspects. Guard passing, sweeping, submissions etc

It is a bjj comp tbh. You can train it for real life or you can train it to win in comp. I doubt butt scooting people in comps would do it in a fight either but works in comp.

Wrestling doesn’t have belt system bro. Sorry the title is confusing. My student is a former wrestler but a current white belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu vs another black belt in jiu jitsu who didn’t wrestle

@@BrazilianTopTeamOregon I know wrestling doesn't have a belt system. I wrestled for 12 years. I was being facetious. I picked up BJJ several years after college. Had to break a lot of wrestling habits. Getting comfortable on your back is challenge number 1. LOL!

For sure don’t run off the mats, he is a white belt. Literary hasn’t even learned ankle locks yet lol. First jiu jitsu tournament ever. He just has lots of wrestling experience. So we are working on the leg locks. We will get there. Great start to his jiu jitsu career!

You can't do your worst in BJJ tournament while someone is butt scooting, since worst would be to aim for their head like doing a freekick in football or soccer. Even in todays MMA that is illegal, but in 2000s PRIDE and early UFC, kicks and knees to grounded opponent were A-OK :)
