My dad used to play this when I was a young girl, never quite got the gist of it. Now as an adult the meaning of it is speaking to my heart so loudly. I love this song and the meaning is so inspiring. I pray that many young kids would be able to hear this and realize that it doesn't matter what others say or do, it's your choice as to whether you want heaven or hell. It's real and-to me and my family- we can't wait for the Lord to call us home!! God Bless All who read this and hope to see you!!

You will be glad to know that I was born a while after this song came out. This song has impacted me in ways I could not even begin to express, it's meaning is so much deeper than what a lot of people in my generation can understand. I grew up a Pastor's kid, so I had a pretty good concept of what it meant the first time I heard it. It was about a year or two ago when my parents introduced me to Whiteheart, and just this past weekend, I was able to grace my mother with this song. She hadn't heard it in years, but immediately broke out in tears. In all honesty, we all feel like that Desert Rose some days, but God will always be here to hold us, and Love us unconditionally. Our sin, if we but ask in truthfulness, He shall take away. The Father will walk to the midst of the desert, and find us, pick us up, and plant us in his garden. Lord Bless you all. 🙏🏻

I heard this song back in 1999 when I first came to the Lord. I left the Lord shortly afterward and just recently came back to Him in 2020. I looked up this song for the first time in over 20 years and I am so glad I found it here. It brings back good memories, and the meaning is so much more clear now that I'm a grown man. As long as you have breath, you can come back to the Lord. I am living proof.

I was raised Christian but became addicted to drugs and one day my mom was in a bad car wreck she was in a coma for a month and had 10 surgeries.. I was also sober at this time and this song which my mom has shown me it brought me to my knees and I hit the ground and cried out to Jesus on my bedroom floor to please save my mom. This was a huge moment in re instilling my faith. Even after i struggled with addiction for more years and finally got sober about a week ago giving my life back to Christ I connected with this song once again but this time I understand the true meaning. Just came out of a really dark place, I was listening to extreme metal music, and I had to learn the hard way. I had to hit rock bottom before I could look up and realize that the Lord was there the whole time. All I needed to do was acknowledge that He was and is Lord and that I am not. My prayers go out to anyone struggling with addiction to this kind of music. Remember it is Christ who cares for you and not the artists that claim to have been through rough times. So reach out to God, and remember He is only one step away from you finding peace. Listen to the Holy Spirit and He shall guide you in what to listen to. Love this video by the way, great song. MY WIFE'S RESPONSE: I think Rachel Joy Scott, the young woman who was martyred at Columbine High School in Littleton, CO, may have been touched by this song. She often doodled roses. The last one she drew, a prophetic drawing, was coupled with two eyes looking down from the sky with 13 teardrops (13 victims), when the teardrops reached the rose they turned red. When I saw this video's pictures, I thought how ironic that the leaves falling from this rose are "tear" shaped. Every time I hear this song, it will remind me of her commitment to Jesus Christ and that I am not the only Desert Rose out there. Such a beautiful song! Who would ever think it would take on meaning with a 17 year old who was later martyred? Just another example of how God uses people who may never have met to comfort, encourage and edify someone.
