Hunter was convicted of a crime that is regularly let slide by authorities. He incorrectly filled out some paperwork, which is a crime but usually isn't pursued by itself - it's usually brought as an additional charge when someone faces other charges related to the use of the weapon. In Hunter Biden's case, he was charged because he is the son of the (now) President and one political party wanted to score points. So, effectively, he was charged for political reasons. If he had been an ordinary citizen (well, he is, actually. But his father isn't) then there would have been no motivation to charge him, just like the many others who also incorrectly fill out the same paperwork but aren't charged unless they later break some other law.

The Supreme Court will probably step in and have to define it better. He was also charged with election interference in Georgia, for telling the Secretary of State to manufacture 11000+ votes so that Trump could be falsely declared the winner of that's state's Presidential election. He was also charged with conspiracy to overturn the 2020 election by inciting a mob to impede an official function of Congress, namely the certification of the election results. Those are the most high-profile ones. I'm surprised you haven't heard of them, as they've been quite well publicized.

@@bobagorof I wouldn't say it is irrelevant only because it's a matter of integrity. The pardon received for hunter was for 10 years of his life. That range was not chosen at random but due to knowledge of when crimes were or could have been committed. So i think one could only claim it is irrelevant if they only care about the result but not the integrity and systems behind it.
