Dementia is not diagnosed via imaging (“scan”), it is diagnosed via neurological/neuropsychological ASSESSMENT (a thorough evaluation that typically includes an interview and various cognitive tests, typically performed by a neuropsychologist). Also, there is no such thing as a “neurological scan.” There are various neurological tests and there is imaging (e.g., MRI).
