White Knuckle! Red Mountain Pass Colorado, don't take you eyes off the road!

Red Mountain Pass is one of the most white knuckle highways in the country. While it is a paved road, it does not have guardrails or much of a shoulder at all in some sections, with steep, unforgiving drop offs. The go pro 360 out the passenger side gives a unique view of the highway!

I've traveled this road a few times. I prefer it on the trip back to Ouray with the mountainside on the right versus the sheer drop going the other way

@@Loud.Thoughts There are occasional rock slides or giant boulders that come down and they have to shut the road down. You just have to be extremely cautious on this road,,,no looking at your cell phone or over the side you go

I drove it Aug of ‘23, it’s awesome! Drive the speed limit and avoid distractions. Lots of pullovers if traffic backs up behind you. It is stunningly beautiful! Every bit as good or better than RMNP in my opinion.

Only if you know the stupid nonsense that's going on in Kathy and my life. For example today at my health clinic I found out that this pain in my right knee is worsening Arthritis. @@wheelinoutwest i live in colorado and i've driven this road many times. i realize ppl run off of it somehow. what i'm saying is, the ppl in the comments are so scared of driving on it, they must run off the road pretty often where ever they go. which is just bad driving, not the roads fault. if you don't run off the road, there's nothing scary about driving on this one.

This road doesn't bother me at all. Neither does Black Bear Pass. Iam in Texas and have driven this multiple times. I try to get the Jeep up to the San Juan's every couple of years. ❤🏕❤ Iam an over the road truck driver, i pull a 53 foot trailer and would love to drive 550 in my truck. (this road)
