Never Heard of this Song or of this Band - thought it was The Cure. Very Compelling Song.
@Dragonette56511 жыл бұрын
Why is everyone comparing Harry McVeigh to Brandon Flowers? Seriously, they are two different people in two different bands with different music styles, so you can't say that Brandon Flowers would do a better job at making White Lies songs, because they are original songs and are supposed to be like this, and that is freaking amazing. Their music is passionate and brilliant and a bit punk-rock, and the Killers/Brandon Flowers music is cool and brilliant and rock, and they're both great bands. :)

This sounds like The Cure...which is in no way a bad thing. It worked perfectly for the end of Bad Batch.

Bad batch UNDERRATED film... flawed but very experimental... one of the best soundtracks I've ever heard in a film and one of the better films and braver films from a female director who is out there but ORIGINAL at least in a time of copies and unoriginal trash

Brilliant with some songs. No one is perfect but this song is merely wall paper. As a song writer myself I have written what I call B-side songs. This is definitely a B-side effort to get a song out for the sake of getting a song out. All commercial bands do this. They play it safe with how they created this song. If it was Brandon Flowers writing, he would delineate song direction to overcome the contrivance of a static zombie like mood.

What is vessel 18?
@snow11wolf3 жыл бұрын
The only thing I find is: The term “vessel of the United States”, as used in this title, means a vessel belonging in whole or in part to the United States, or any citizen thereof, or any corporation created by or under the laws of the United States, or of any State, Territory, District, or possession thereof. (June 25, 1948, ch. 645, 62 Stat. 685.)

@Dragonette565 thank you for taking the words right out of my mouth. I agree 100%. No two people are exactly alike, and their music personalities certainly won't be identical. You can compare them all you want, but Harry wouldn't do a better job writing songs for The Killers, and like you said, Brandon wouldn't do a better job of writing songs for White Lies. :)

@TheSkepticon Personally, I don't understand what our generation's characteristics have to do with the type of music that White Lies put out. Or the "instant gratification society." I believe these lyrics, and all lyrics from Charles, Harry, and Jack to have a certain depth and sustenance. They're intriguing, relatable, and creative. Non-repetitive. Interesting usage of vocabulary and ways of wording things that aren't considered common. The lyrics aren't all about feeling entitled to something, or even wanting something. Listen to some Joy Division/Tears for Fears/The Cure/Echo and the Bunnymen/Etc. if you want good bands to compare to White Lies. If the scope of your knowledge is The Killers.. well, then, you aren't very well versed in this type of music, are you?
@travisrussell51096 жыл бұрын
@Laura Lumpkin chill its a song lets not get schooled by a "instant gratification society" your sheep if you see that way tbh most are how you think but we have a world of knowledge in our pockects if we choose to use it that way

I totally went there Laura! Echo and the Bunnyman and Joy division. This song is so beautiful. I see cataclysmic solar events taking place when the whole orchestra comes in during the hooks. Beautiful. ""Start burning in the sky""

Poetically the lyrics lack direction, the melody is locked in contrivance and the rhythm timing is crudely patched. This band presents itself as a nouveau 80's new wave alternative but I am having difficulty feeling anything sincere. It's like the song writers are compulsive with the outlines but have severe disability when it comes to filling it all in. This may be due to a generational disconnect brought on by an instant gratification society. I give the band credit for making the effort.
