Saw it at the Mayfield Road Drive In when it first came out. Turned 21. The rest is history. I’m 69 now and still running the great 48. Keep on Truck’in.

Saw this movie on TV back in the 70s for the first time. I remember seeing the original movie trailer when it first came out. I was completely blown away by the stunt truck going through the big glass house letters. I knew then this was going to be a good movie. I always liked truck driver movies and TV shows. I always liked big trucks. My Dad was a truck driver. I never did. But always wanted to be one.

This is an awesome, emotional and fun movie. I love The BLUE MULE! To me that is one of the best trucks in the movie. I'm cool to interested to know about 2 things in this movie. 1- during the end credits, is it a memory or did they fix The BLUE MULE after it crashed? And 2: is the Sky Blue truck in the background at 5:10 an INTERNATIONAL Harvester, or is it a GMC or Chevrolet C-Series semi truck? Just though I'd ask. Please and Thank you. Or posting this movie and answering my question. P.S. is the steering wheel in the BLUE MULE White, Tan, Beige or a Lighter Gray? I always thought it was White. Please and Thank you again.

Slim Pickens, LQ Jones and Strother Marten were all good friends. I loved all three of them in movies. Slim always walked like he lived most of his life on a horse which of course he did. I always enjoyed JMV's movies and TV. He would still be working if not for all his troubles and poor health as he was a damn good actor.

I always thought that American trucks were still stylish compared to some European trucks namely MAN and Iveco. Not a patch on Scammell's, AEC's, ERF, Foden's, Bedford's and even the Ford trucks that were built in Slough, all gone now. American truck parks are cool!

Is anybody else having problems with the video? Getting a blank screen and an "error" message? And to Shaun up above; This IS the best trucker movie EVER. And isn't this the movie that started all the other "Burt Reynolds" trucker movies? I live near Fontana. The city council scum and land rapers turned that town into a nightmare for truckers. Urban Sprawl turned what was known as "the armpit of the Inland Empire" into another part of the anatomy I won't name.

That's probably the reason why he retired. Hollywood can be such a chew-you-up-spit-you-out mentality, which is why a lot of them end up on drugs/alcohol or self-esteem issues. Some end up a huge joke like Gary Busey, who actually was pretty good till he got crazy as hell.
