Cool, wonder why the key pin needs to be removed vs snipping the header pin on the adapter?
@Chancekj
@Chancekj 3 жыл бұрын
Initially we were under the impression that Laser War required that as a ground line. However we discovered that it wasn't the case. future versions will not need this, and will have the pin removed.

@@Chancekj I recommend you update your installation video to mention that cutting the key pin on the filter device is another option, instead of removing the key pin on the game's connector. This would be beneficial to customers who may need to move the filter to a different game.

@@kenhuber2000 Good call, however we've actually started shipping a slightly updated version of the board with both the key pin on the top connector cut off, and the one on the bottom connector sealed. :)

@@Chancekj Understood, but I still think you owe me a .156 polarizing key pin to restore my friends game connector 🙂 That aside, it is a great product. With your filter and some nylon washers on the sound board (we did before we installed your filter -- so those may not be needed), the game is dead QUIET!

@@kenhuber2000Thanks! I would love to send you one :) I ordered a bag of 1000 of them from one of our parts suppliers and they sent the wrong part and they don't fit. So we just started gluing the connector shut with Bondic, lol. If I can find it I'll send you the one out of my R&B&F we show in the video :D

Pretty amazing! Just installed in Jurrasic park. I would say it knocked the buzzing down 80% Now I can leave the pin on when not playing.

Nice. 60Hz only, or will it work with 50Hz UK supply too?
@Chancekj
@Chancekj Жыл бұрын
We’ve sold a TON of these over the pond. As long as its not the DMD/Flasher buzz, and your power supply isn’t on its last legs this should help mitigate some/most/all of the humm.

I would be in if I still had a DE game. Great idea.

Just installed one on a Batman Forever. Not a huge difference but it is noticeable. So for the low cost I’m pretty happy with it.

I’m interested in ordering some arcade machines from the us up to Canada. Can you share your experiences with it and considerations for things like shipping and customs?

Why did you remove my legitimate comment / question about your product before??? It doesn't work on my Data East Robocop and just produces a very loud hum. Any troubleshoot tips?

Henk, we haven’t removed any comments from this video with the exception of a few spam bots. Not sure why it wouldn’t be showing up. The board is a VERY simple design, so as long as it’s plugged in properly it will either just work (with various degrees of effectiveness depending on the condition of your game), or you will get no sound through tour speakers at all. Jeff and Chance hand test every single board before sending them out to ensure quality control. And there is now also a bootleg version of the board being sold by Pinball Life which has seen a much higher failure rate and is often confused with one of the WNR boards. If you’re still having issues, contact them at info@whitenorthretro.com or Chance on Pinside @ChanceKJ

@@TheCanadianArcade Thanks for your reply! I bought it straight from your website. Also tried contacting you through your website but the email got bounced, reason why I ended up here. Is it safe to test the device again? My Robo pin is in excellent shape but should I check the voltages?
@TheCanadianArcade
@TheCanadianArcade 10 ай бұрын
@henknieborg69 Yeah we’ve been having issues with the email account. We’re in the middle of fixing that now. Yeah, as I mentioned as long as its plugged in properly you shouldn’t have any issue. The board is insanely simple and only touches the 12v line. I would test voltages.

Use a 1K ohm resistor across the audio input signals....reduce hum to 80 - 90%...
@Chancekj
@Chancekj 3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely you could do that. However you’d be changing the impedance on the line and putting stress on the amps. We developed this in part for people who didn’t have the skillset to make any kind of modifications with an iron and wanted something plug and play.

Might want to take a look at having your power supply rebuilt or replaced. Beyond that, investing in a PinSound board at a last resort.

Great work ! Too expensive for my taste though, if it was half the price I would buy a bunch for my DE games... THE HUM DOESN'T NEVER BOTHERED ME ANYWAY !! LOL

Thanks for your feedback Dan. Personally I don't think 40 bucks is bad. It covers the development, production, shipping, and marketing costs to make these, plus allows Pinball Life to get a small cut as an incentive to sell them so we can get them to as many people who want them. In fact we turned down an original deal to sell them with another major US pinball parts suppler because they wanted to sell them at almost $60USD! We didn't feel that was right.
