Can we just appreciate that they're playing a son house song to thousands of people who probably wouldn't even think that's a real name?

It's actually an adaptation of a Robert Johnson song "Walkin Blues". Covered later by many others.

Best version of any White Stripes song ever, IMO. @@jimmygray4072 Jack White draws a lot of inspiration from Son House, not just the music, but the way House plays -- alone, stripped down, just clapping sometimes, raw in voice, in guitar. House is totally passionate as well he keeps in contained in a small space. The spirit of Delta Blues expands, spreads and the world doesn't even know that it's happening.

...while this young man REALLY gets down with the song, I am betting that he is the first to admit that the original by Son House is STILL one of the untouchable benchmarks for blues/ blues guitar. I mean I totally dig this and what the White Stripes are at their best and they COMPLETELY wipe the floor with the entire career of Clapton et al when it comes to tapping into what the blues truly is but, this still is not Son House. It can't be, and that is okay folks! Thanks for posting! ....

Can't really compare one to the other in my opinion - it's like saying the GT is nice but the Model T is the untouchable benchmark for Ford. One paved the way for the other but they serve different purposes. Son House was one of the inventors if he didn't lay the groundwork Jack couldn't have turned it into a GT.
