I purchased the IC800 as well and had so much trouble with it that I had to return it. I READ THE INSTRUCTIONS, contacted technical support about what was in the manual, and they told me that I shouldn't have done what the manual told me. End of the day, my own research yielded better results than their tech support (which was still pretty bad). Love this video because it is real. I have tech support emails to back it up. Not for clothing.

I really appreciate your honesty...you are a natural teacher and speaker I am a corrective colorist.. I have fixed more false promises people have made to clients than I care to even count.. I learned the ins and outs and the science to get consistent results and how to use creative methods to make my work easier and to stand out. I totally relate and respect why said what you did. If people would just keep it real and stop disrespecting each other. We all have our favorite products and methods.. People need to strive to do what they do best and conquer that niche. I see people do BADASS work with stencils and markers. Talent is talent... Having the right equipment to achieve amazing results certainly makes our job easier... I have also seen people paint with qtips, their fingers and a butter knife and they floor me My point is.. Find what you do best and elevate it... If you make mistakes learn from it and respect each other especially the people who a generous and brave enough to make these videos. Really.. Appreciate what they are doing to help us all do better...

Marrying process I'd say is pretty much equal to sprinkling the adhesive powder on to the DTF transfer sheets and then hovering it over heat? Print speed on a wtp is definitely quicker. With rasterization applied to the design, it is alot more durable than DTF. Yes DTF is stretchy and feels softer but after a few washes, it does crack. Every surface printed image will crack after a few washes unless It's rasterized to allow water to pass through. Even plastisol screen print cracks. The only prints that won't crack over a long period is DTG and screen prints. I use WTP and rasterize every design, no issues at all.

I don’t have either machine..just considering them at this point…but seems the graphics are quite different on each shirt. The toner shirt has a wide solid area (and best practice method for that method says if it’s more than three fingers wide, either break it up or apply halftone (rasterizing). The dtf shirts all have graphics broken into smaller bits and pieces which goes a long way in preventing cracking or at least minimizing it. If you’re printing on a black T-shirt, why print the black? Use a color knockout to save toner and create some breaks in the picture

I just ordered a used laser printer off of ebay that I will be using a white toner cartridge with. I was really torn between which direction to go. I have been a photographer and a graphic designer for 15 years. I have never done DTF printing, but I have a lot of experience with both types of printers. They both have their draw backs that you will need to work around. Ultimately, I had to go with the efficiency, reliability, and overall versatility of the laser. I've had enough headaches dealing with clogs and waste of Epson printers to almost never want one ever again. It also only cost me about $1300 for my setup that will be able to do the same size prints as the L1800. I won't have to buy any more toner until until I've done at least 5000 pages....... I think I made the right choice.

Whoa. it seems like you have it figured out; in terms of what you feel will benefit you most. I assure you, that you will not get the page yield that you have projected because WT has so much waste, with the marrying process. When you have to marry the A and B sheets, you really aren't gaining much efficiency, in your workflow. If you are a professional designer and photographer, I'm sure color output means something to you. With WT printing, you will likely become very frustrated with the color output because it will not be accurately represented in your laser prints, in the way an inkjet would be able. There is maintenance with DTF, but I would much rather maintain my printers, and have the assurance of knowing that my customers/clients wouldn't complain about having to wash the shirts a specific way, only for them to last 10 washes. Please let me know how you like the WT process, as I'm hearing more negatives about it from T-shirt printers, vs the good; it would be refreshing, to hear some of the good feedback.

@@elegant_edits I've actually decided to give both of them a shot. I found a modified L1800 for even cheaper than the laser. I've also come to find out that I can not really do full color prints easily with the laser printer as there is no software available to do so with modified setups like there is with inkjet systems. I'm really just testing the waters here. If things go well, I think I'll get a DTG UV hybrid system. I'm sure that's really the best way to go.

To be fair Supacolor is a DST. Not DTF The bottom white layer is plastisol ink (screenprint) and cmyk is printed on a toner.

Interesting that this is even an argument. I had an OKi 711wt about 4 years ago and didn't even sell an item with that stuff on it. SO therefore it should be compared with an actual reliable transfer like eco-solvent I currently use but now looking at DTF for the extra it could possibly give.

Yours is the first video that was worth the watch. It looks like I literally went the same path as you. I got my new DTF printer up and printing and putting out product in 2 days. And that was with issues installing Acrorip. LOL Plus the print, vibrancy and accuracy of color hands down beats out White Toner Printing. While I do know what I am doing with WT printing (after a year of costly supplies down the drain) I still am amazed at my DTF printer. I've literally have had it in use just 1 week and I'm ready to sell the the WT printer. Fortunately the WT printer has more use than for shirts, so I will be keeping it for now. I'm glad that there is someone else that feels the same as I do when it comes to these products. Keep on keeping on!

What I don’t like with dtf is that the printer have many issues, red lights blinking,many of them clogged or printhead fail. And we know how much a printhead cost. Also the shop temperature and supply ( powder and ink can be a issue for the printer). If you spend 10K for a chinese printer you’ll never know what you gonna get and the powder and fumes that comes from cooking the sheet you don’t know how harmful they are. White toner is versatile same as dtf but you don’t need maintenance, or replace printhead or replace printer.. it might crack more or less like dtf but it depends on working on setting and the garment that you use. In your video the white toner are printed on heavy cotton tshirt and the dtf on probably 100% poly and didn’t crack. It’s the garment that makes the difference beside your printing settings. Btw when printhead will cost 50$ I might go back doing dtf

I have an Epson L1800 and I think it is slow compared to the other models, but after a while you learn to have patience with it lol. I can't complain about the quality or the feel. Most arent going to give up the game but the real secret with White toner printers is in the actual transfer you use. Most haven't figured that out. Using the right transfer paper you can run against DTG and DTF...Yes I said it and dont expect you to believe me. Most only use the lower quality ones. Folks keep the secrets to themselves and let others bash WTP and they are forced to spend more going DTG or DTF. Plus there are other little tips and tricks with WT. Again...folks ain't telling the game

@@naturalhealthrevolution1518 I have tried the premium paper and laminated it. But the quality still isn’t there for me. Also, if you buy the premium paper it costs like $800 for 100 sheets!!!! That’s $8 per transfer you make. I think that’s way too expensive. I wish WTP were better because I really like the low maintenance aspect, high speed, and picture quality. Until, they prove they are comparable in actual print quality like screen prints then I will go in all the way.

@@t-shirtcrusaders2547 nah homie. Much more to it than that. Most dont know about what I'm talking about. With a WT printer you can make certain moves that will allow to you match DTG and DTF. I already knew how you were going to respond before you responded. When the correct moves are made you can watch a T shirt with fabric softener and put in the dryer on HIGH heat and so that MANY times with no issues. Low heat is one thing but high is typically the killer. Nobody should be drying in high anyways though.

Clogging issues, wasted ink during nozzle check cleanings, etc? Others who own DTF's have said be prepared to do a lot of hand-holding daily with these...how is Supacolor in terms of real profitability? This would depend on several different factors, because I wouldn't want you to purchase a printer that wouldn't best suit your demand. You must answer several questions: Do you currently have consistent orders? If so, how many transfers will you need to print per day? Do you want to only print for your customers' orders or do you also want to sell the transfers to other businesses? How many days of the week will you be printing? Will you be printing in a shop, with good ventilation or from your home? How big of a footprint can you manage, for a printing system? All of these things should be assessed, first.

What do you recommend for a home based business that doesn't have a large shirt business yet as far as dtf printer? I keep reading that the maintenance is a nightmare, clogged lines etc.
@elegant_edits
@elegant_edits Жыл бұрын
Hi, and thanks for watching my videos. It would depend on your business model. You would have to answer several questions: How often will you be printing. Would you like to print transfers for other businesses or only for your shop? Depending on your business model, it might be better to order transfers from a reputable DTF vendor, until you have the need to upgrade. If you would like to be able to print smaller orders on demand, I would suggest something such as a p800 or L1800(slower printer, but reliable). For higher production, but not commercial, I would recommend the p5000. I am actually selling the p5000 DTF printers, right now. I have recently decided to offer quality consumables, because your inks, powder and film are also very important. DTF requires maintenance, but you shouldn't experience clogging, if the inks are good, and you are doing routine maintenance.

@@elegant_edits I basically just want it for myself and not to do prints for others. I need custom artwork so feel like this would be the route to go. I probably wouldn't be printing every day. Maybe a few times a week.
@elegant_edits

I think an L1800 would be a good option for you. It's not a very fast printer, but as long as you have good inks and do the maintenance, it would be a good printer. What is your budget?
@brendafogerty1685
@brendafogerty1685 Жыл бұрын
@@elegant_edits I know I want to do bigger prints not just 8.5 x 11 or 8.5x14. Can the L1800 do that? Honestly my budget depends on what all comes with it. What vendor do you recommend? I need someone who offers support and warranty on equipment.
@elegant_edits
@elegant_edits Жыл бұрын
The L1800 can handle up to A3+ (13" x 19") sheets. The printer is slow but produces great prints. Not many companies offer great customer support or a warranty, due to the nature of the maintenance that is required for DTF. There is no way to prove whether or not the customer may have caused clogging, due to not performing the maintenance or using different inks.

I like that you try to destroy the shirt... i will do the same.. you have to be super bad to stuff to put your name behind it and sell it after... your the KING men ! i was about 1 week to but icolor 560, and the cost of toner stress me a lot, that mean it will cost ME 3-5 $ per print... now i learn that DTF can cost me less than 1$... i am pretty sure this is the way to go !

I’m not sure what’s going on with my DTF machine. I did the reverse flash I also clean the print head and I’m not getting any white ink on the printer. Something is clogged in the system and I’m not sure what it is. I just purchased my printer and I only got like three or four of the prince out of it so far they’re printed the white base in the back.

@djbigant610
@djbigant610 3 жыл бұрын
@@stealthgod801 honestly none of these DIY ones the maintenance will be alot and there not built to handle the white ink or dtf ink period. Dtf ink is the same ink as a dtg only difference is the cmyk is thinned out. You need to find yourself a actual dtf supply (and not one who does the diy) because they will modify the print head along with everything else to run dtf with no problem. Print head will actually last longer.

You need more practice on white toner for a softer feel ....even if you have been printing for 10 years. You just have to learn process and be willing to master it.

You are not smart enough to make a proper comparison. You have to make the same print with both systems and test both of them identically, not stretching like crazy differently.
@elegant_edits
@elegant_edits 2 жыл бұрын
I'm sure that I am much smarter than you, for certain...Especially, if your retention skills aren't good enough to see the stark contrast between both printing methods, without comparing the same image. When I did the stretch test, it was for testing the durability of the printing process, itself. The same amount of ink vs toner is being laid down--it doesn't matter which image is being printed. Go to any Facebook group or printing forum and look at the litany of people who are selling their white toner printers for DTF units. Try again...but hopefully, you'll try to pick another channel to troll. This will be my only comment to you, as I'm sure---we'd both be wasting our time.
