Still keep this album in the regular rotation to this day! The "badass brass" is what separates these guys from the other hair bands of that time. For me, the whole album is great! Always listen to it from start to finish.

Awesome song! I made our band cover this years ago...our drummer got so mad at me for making us play this over & over. He told someone that I was going to have a drumstick stuck in the back of my head the next time I made him play it :)

It's funny, when these guys hit I associated them with the grunge and alternative bands you were starting to see in mainstream Empty V rotation, but in retrospect they're very obviously more closely related to some of the funkier hair/pop metal bands like Extreme and Faster Pussycat. Interesting stuff. Thanks for putting this up. I'm glad it occurred to me to seek this out, and even more glad someone actually cared enough to put it up.

Nice...saw them in a local club in Queens, NY (on Bell Blvd)...they blew my friend's band away...Shame competion is so fierce in the music industry where great bands don't make it. It doens't help that promoters are pushing trash today. Brainwashing our kids with crap. I was so proud today!!! I asked my 10 year old son, who plays the drums, if he liked Justin Bieber. He said, without any influence from me, "No". When I asked why he said "he is too girlie". I responded "very good".
@kidvishus14 жыл бұрын
I actually dug this cassette out tonight and listened to it. It's just as good now as it was when it was practically 20 yrs ago. The problem is, they are NOT and never were a hair band, metal band, or any of those horrible classificatons. But MTV had no idea what to do with them, so they called them "metal". They were more funk/ska than metal. Listen to "the crawl", thats not metal, thats just good old funk.
@zmbdog14 жыл бұрын
@swine19 It is. The album version is a little faster and "tighter". This is more of a live version.

it was like late 91 possibly 92 truely funky, the rest of the album is ok, apple pie and the crawl are the highlights of the album for sure. they had a followup record but it didnt do well at all.

@zmbdog Remember the song Hat Trick? In hockey getting three goals is called a hat trick. The song talks about the hat trick as getting laid 3 times at one event. Eventually in the song he has run out of luck and is now going for the fat trick

What Hubbard was getting at with this statement is one of the foundational ideas in epistemology: that what you observe with your own senses is undeniable. For example if you see something red you cannot deny that you saw something red. It may have been an illusion or hallucination, but the sensation of redness cannot be denied. This idea is limited though to things directly observed, and does not apply to beliefs. It does not mean that believing something makes it true.

That's a very interesting take on it, and I'm sure you're right. Somebody at MTV was clearly sick of the hair metal and pop-rap and techno-pop, but it took a few years of trying to make some kind of alternative rock thing stick. Faith No More had a big hit but never quite took off or spawned any copycat bands, REM were an island in a sea of pop stuff... You're right, bands like this were a placeholder while they waited for Nirvana and Nine Inch Nails to have hits.

@222Lightning don't erase your comment !!! Actually I owe you an apology...I just saw Justin Lieber on a music book at BOOKSAMILLION. I did not know who he was. I thought you were insulting the singer or drummer as being to girly and that you were a woman. My bad it was late. About being alone.....I hear your point but I like being alone. I get clarity that way.......with my art music and with the tornado of my past.

Note to 21st-Century "rock" bands: you CAN have a good time WHILE 'expressing yourself' musically. It's OKAY. You don't have to be downtrodden Neanderthals stuck in 'dropped D' or whiny little bitches with 'swoop' 'dos. Or is that what the labels insist on in ClearChannel Nation these days?? P.S. Great song, great memories, wish it was on iTunes.
