Saw Linkin Park, Metallica and Fred Durst live in St Louis many moons ago. Linkin Park was over modulated and generally sounded like they needed to fire their board guy. Metallica was there going through the motions and put on a half assed show compared to the other times I had seen them live. Fred Durst hit the stage and burned that f'in place down. I have never seen anyone with as much energy and enthusiasm for a crowd as he had, and that day convinced me that he is a true performer, and is definitely in it for the crowd.

Players who can come up with that, especially more than once, have an intelligence regarding what to do, what not to do, that can't be attained by practice.
