I hate it when a person feels they have to correct someone when they call a band a certain genre they don't agree with. I know what I'm talking about dude. Fuck subgenres. I can call it death metal if I want to. And I'm not dumb, I've been following Whitechapel for years. The drumming in this particular video though is pretty much death metal. Sure you hear the breakdown in the background, but you didn't see him play it.
