@thefourshowflip3 жыл бұрын
I never understood that sort of elitism, for lack of better word. It’s not about how complex or simple it is; it’s not whether you have 1 guitarist or 3 (or whether your drummer is using a 3-piece kit or a Neil Peart style monster kit)…it’s about how you use those elements to create a composition, and the quality of the composition. That’s why one of my favorite guitarists is Adam Jones from TOOL. In no way is he a flashy guitarist (though undoubtedly he writes/plays very complex guitar tracks), but dammit that guy kills it in TOOL.

I like Whitechapel, but I’ve been a huge loyal fan of Alex Rüdinger since he was a middle school kid with long hair. With that being said (not hating on Whitechapel’s music) this play through doesn’t scratch what this guy can do. Go to his channel and you’ll be amazed of how profesional, precise and good he is. I consider him top 3 metal drummers out there. Underrated for his talent.

Any Whitechapel fan who plays or merely appreciates drumming is already subscribed to Alex’s channel. Whilst this track isn’t as technical as some of his playthroughs (especially the works he wrote personally) it still showcases his otherworldly ability. Definitely one of the best but “top 3” is a huge call.

I'll never forget seeing Whitechapel in a a festival and not knowing Alex was their drummer at the time. I was just sitting there like.. " Who is this guy? This is the best drummer at this whole damn festival. " I believe it was Carolina Rebellion, which was a massive hard rock and metal festival. As I watched and listened more I figured out it was him just by his playing, because I couldn't see more than a silhouette of him. When people can hear you and know it is you just from your style and sound.. that's an amazing thing. Especially for a drummer.
