"A Bloodsoaked Symphony" Lyrics: My conscious froze when I felt the cold embrace of the hand that crafted me I set my soul ablaze, I crawled through the nether and left a suicide letter next to my own severed head I think I should be dead but that’s the beauty of selling yourself to sin But again, we are men craving winter’s end Wishing to live within our origin again The door to immortality is shut I can’t take much more of the scent of mold This sphere of madness burning in my gut Has trapped me in this house again Mother, I pray that your voice sings me to sleep To save my sanity from the sound of this blood-soaked symphony Father, I pray that your hand is warm again My pain will never end until you both come back to me I can feel the devil’s presence, he never left this house Now I can live my third depth fantasy Draw him straight to me and drain every last drop from his arteries A sacrifice of blood wakes the eye It looks to turn this iron into gold I place my hand upon the ancient god I surrender my life I bring the gift of resurrection The power returns from which it came Now grant me what I have gifted Mother, father come back to me In blood and bone I carve an oath To save this boy from this shattered home Tonight we bathe in blood and drink From the skull of the beast that left his heart so cold In a perfect world we could take his whole family’s soul And fuel our hearts with the hate I have For the beast in us all

Initially, years ago, I admittedly wasn’t totally digging this less technical and more personal lyrics driven era that Whitechapel were heading into. But as I’ve gotten older, experienced more hardships and life struggles, and allowed my taste in music to mature, Ive realized that Phil and the gang are just more interested in painting a dark, Malevolent personal expository, and a relatable yet menacing landscape with each new album. Rather than a collection of loosely similarly titled songs with seemingly random themes of evil and violence. And I Can now understand and appreciate such writing.

Yes! I felt the same way, The Valley is true art and this is an amazing direction for them to go in. It also must be extremely cathartic for Phil and it's a healthy outlet as opposed to burying the pain. I still love the three albums prior to The Valley, and their stuff before their self titled is fine but mostly just generic edgy deathcore, but this new material transcends anything a band like Whitechapel ever seemingly should've been capable of.

What you see in the video is Phil's evil self; the Kin (?), showcased in Lost Boy. That evil Phil has the same love for his parents and hatred for the stepfather, so he kills his stepdad and sacrifices him to an ancient god; the eye you see on The Valley album art, in order to resurrect his mother and father, pull Phil into his own reality and fuse with him eventually, but the problem is that those parents are just shells of themselves, like lifeless moving creatures who can't talk and have no consciousness. I think this can also be a connected to the song Brimstone, where Phil kills his stepdad brutally in his dream. Phil is an incredible songwriter. I can't wait to hear this! If there's one thing that I think is underappreciated about the "new Whitechapel" era, it's the subtle nods to appalachian/folk/country music that is actually present in some of the clean guitar intros that are prevalent on the last two albums. Almost like you're arriving in a small western town from aboard a frontier train. It reminds me of the ornamental tremolo guitars in the ambient soundtrack for Red Dead Redemption. It plays such a small little role in the textures of the songs, but it's something I picked up on and really, really enjoy. :)

I have had many dark thoughts and even went as far as making a few "attempts" of my own. Despite the Hell I endured growing up, I miss them both dearly. Today, I teach young kids' how to play guitar. I play guitar in an aspiring band "Chaotic Demise". Based on our past lives', abuse, current events and the direction we are all headed in. For all of you out there that still have either or both parents, cherish it now. They can leave at any given moment. Even your grands. I have more of my fair share of emotional scars.

I don’t really like this type of music but this song drove me somewhere. anger and emotions and love at the same time. Great song.

I lost my mom and dad 15 years apart and I'm only 36. The line of "Mother, Father, come back to me" hits me very fucking hard. But not as hard as this song.

I’m so in love with their new material so far, not only is it heavy musically, but it’s so emotionally heavy as well. And that’s something I’m a fan of, putting all your emotion in your craft.
