Been a long time coming this episode... During this time, I've finished a 6 week stint house siting for a customer (so had kit and gear all over the place) and have now just moved into my new place. A lot of cleaning, sorting, buying, moving & settling but think we're about there...
Three cars. All black. All German. A Phantom Black Audi RS4 in for a 'White Detail' followed by a New Car Prep on a Sapphire Black M2 and finally a return visit from an Obsidian Black Mercedes C63 AMG for some localised corrections and enhancement.
In this episode:

Oh man I watched every second of this Vlog. This RS4 is now in my top 3 of favorite details you have done. I absolutely love it when you bring back these beauties from the brink of where they are no longer looking special anymore. To the point that I'd actually go out and look for a tired model just to save more money and then have it corrected properly. Stunning work Jim and Terry.

You really turned that RS4 around. Really impressed. The paint on the Audis is Glasurit or Sikkens (don't remember) and is hard as hell. Takes a polish really well. I wish the owners good luck, as a high mileage RS4 is a challenge keeping it alive....

Detailer to detailer questions... That poor Merc! How do you feel when someone trashes your work? I spent 130 hours machine polishing a Bentley Mulsanne to a ridiculous level and it got wrecked when it went for a service immediately after. I was livid. How do you find MOHS+ compares to CS Black in terms of looks and application? I am a huge fan of how MOHS+ or Durabead looks. Building the layers of the MOHS really enhances the surface. To rebadge before or after ceramic protection is applied? I always go after because I like the areas in between to be protected too. What is school of thought for before? Jon @ Exquisite Car Care

Stunning job on the RS4, what would be your advice be on polishing outside for those who dont have the use of a unit or garage
@No-Gumph
@No-Gumph 6 жыл бұрын
Polishing outside is difficult as you cannot control the panel temperature due to the sun, dirt/pollen settling on the surface or see paint defects very well as it is not really possible to overpower the sun. My advice would be polish in the shade, try and pick a day when there isn't too much in the air that can settle on the car and look at your level of correction when it is dark. You may get odd looks, but you can control the light source and see any defects that may remain.

Hello! I have a lot of compound dust everywhere on car after cuttin stage, what should i do with this before LSP?? Thanks for answer and like always cool video!:)
@No-Gumph
@No-Gumph 6 жыл бұрын
If you are getting a lot of dust, first ask why? Consider a different polish: Some polishes produce more dust than others. Scholl S20 Black and Gyeon's Polish are two very low dust polishes with decent levels of cut and refinement. Things to consider are: Change your pad type: Open cell (like the Rupes pads) and microfibre pads tend to produce more dust than closed cell pads (like Lake Country pads). Ensure your pads aren't clogging: A lot of dust can be generated if pads are not cleaned enough before applying more polish. The residue builds up and tends to spew everywhere as it builds up. This is particularly noticeable when moving the pad over a curve so some of the pad loses contact with the paint or the pad is moved partly over a panel edge. Be prepared to change your pad frequently, especially if you don't have compressed air to blow the residue off. Working time: If polishes are worked for too long, they tend to produce a lot of dust. The best way to determine this is to look at how long it takes for dusting to begin and don't keep going for long after. The temptation can be to work a polish for too long to ensure it breaks down. Sometimes less time is just as effective and reduces dust production. In preparation for your LSP, just remove it as you go with compressed air, a metro vac airforce blaster or lamb's wool duster. They key is to remove this dust so it is not pressed into the paint when the LSP is applied and damaging the finish. If necessary, rewash the car very carefully. I hope this helps, Jon @ Exquisite Car Care
