While I don't yet weld I like to watch these videos to file away the info for the day it eventually happens ;) Cheers Bob.

my favorite part is still 0:03, I like how the EMF seems to effect the cameras imaging!

The worst part about taking that video, was the GoPro was too close and got spatter on the lens shield and some of the video in the future will have two blurry spots on the screen 😪. Always fun with the GoPro, it is an early model and some of my fluorescent lights do that to the video as well 😐

Excellent video, thanks very much. I haven't welded for 20 years and I will be buying a MIG welder. Still to see what are good choices of machines to buy, but this video is a great start for me. Appreciated.

Thanks for watching the video and glad that you found it useful. There are quite a lot of MIG machines out there to choose from and I only showed a few, so good luck with your search.

Thanks Bob, great video mate. What did you mean about using TIG as well as oxy for aluminum welding. Surely you would just use TIG exclusively. Thanks mate, I enjoy your workshop doings.

Thanks for watching the video. For aluminium weld repairs, I find a difference between TIG and oxy depending on whether the joint will be subject to a lot of flex. Oxy repairs seem to tolerate flex better. I don't know exactly why, but I speculate it is to do with the broader heat affected zone that you get with oxy compared with TIG. The heat affected zone is changing the metal structure making it a bit more pliable, and the broader one resulting from an oxy repair is able to deal with flex better. I watched a video years ago of Jesse James, the American Chopper builder, making an aluminium fuel tank. He used oxy to weld the pieces of tank together and said unlike TIG, the resulting welds dealt with the hammering and rolling without cracking. Jesse James was probably dealing with the sort of flex I am talking about.
