Same here dude in 1992 I gave up playing bass because of the grudge bullshit I was already in a stable band going from playing covers we got out shit together only to be told to do what Pearl Jam or idiots of nirvana so three years ago coworker gave me cheap bass ( China amazing bass) but that’s all needed so I would go bald and watch this video and many like it. So yes brother yes.

I didn't know Coverdale could play guitar let alone that well. Seems very blued influenced with some jazzy chords. I love seeing the Peavey VTM 60's...Whitesnake is why I bought a VTM60 and a 120 back in the day. And Adrian Vandenberg is why I bought Peavey Nitros (still own 3) and Tracers.

As far as I remember, Steve Vai came aboard pretty late. Adrian had an injury that prevented him from recording (what you see here is just rough pre-production that didn't go on the album), so Steve recorded all the guitars parts, in his Mothership studio. The songs had been written at that stage.

Some fun memories, as my wife (asst. to Kalodner) and I were back stage and at after bars with these guys, when in town, and I spent a fair amount of time at Keith's Goodnight LA, and produced a few acts at the Record Plant, the worst of which was the morning after the LA riots, where all of Hollywood was a ghost town, and why Vai parked his chopper inside. As far as lead playing, sykes blows away adrian as shown in this video. John s wailed all of his solos with the alternate picking similar to the late gary moore. Vandenberg fakes his way through his leads without picking at all. Just alot of left hand work, but when its all hammer on, its stuff a 10 yr old could play. No comparison.

Coverdale has a cool self-deprecating way of talking about himself. His speaking voice is uncannily similar to comedian Matt Berry character Toast of London."Can you hear me Clem Fandango ? "
