Whitesnake - Here I Go Again ('87 US Single Remix) (Guitar Cover)

This has always been my favourite version of the song, maybe due to it being the only one I had on my old iPod as a kid. I love how it just kicks in with the guitars but I do think the chorus harmony on the other '87 version is much better. It's also the version you would find on the 'Air Guitar' compilation CDs usually bought for Dad's around Fathers Day, and since that day is coming up, I am retro actively using that as the reason for doing this one now.
So this is of course the 'remix' (also labelled as 'Radio Mix') and it features Dan Huff on the guitars. I'm always looking to emulate the session guys like him both in technique and tone, so I very much enjoyed playing this.
It's surprisingly warm here in Scotland...in case you're wondering.

I use a Jackson DK2 Dinky from 2004 (I removed the tone pot and moved the volume over) into a Boss Me50 (where I get my tone) into a Palmer Pdi-09 (which simulated a mic'd up cab) into a Focusrite Scarlett into my computer running Logic Pro X (where I add a little EQ and Reverb).

Me too!! I am from The Netherlands but I dislike the Adrian solo would have loved to hear John Sykes version of this but Dann nailed it!!! I learned to play the solo from Stay (Giant) a few years back.. A favorite of mine :P

Fantastic job on this song. Here’s a little fun fact about myself. The Here I Go Again Radio Mix is where I first discovered Dann Huff’s name and that’s what made me want to look more into him. Which was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Because I found so much great music just by looking through his credits and that was also how I found guys like Landau, Thompson, and other sessions guys like that. Of course Lukather I already knew and loved from the Toto connection. But overall he pretty much set the stage for what I’d be listening to from that point forward. And that’s how I became a huge Dann huff fanatic.

Man my story with this song is the same as you. Remember being a teen in 2012 just having all these Guitar Hero songs. I actually think the most well known and liked the 1987 album version is the one I like the least for purely subjective reasons, but mostly due to overplay on radio. I really like the organs on the original version of the song in Saints and Sinners.

killer version/cover! i honestly have no inkling that a radio friendly version existed until recently. i got exposed to the 87 version then just a few years back, to the Marsden-Moody original version. i thought both were killer versions but I also thought there must be a version out there which had the best bits and parts of both original and 87. and voila - stumbled upon the radio mix version, which I think captures the tone and sound of the 87 and the simplicity (yet still killer!) of the original version.
