I think that's something that should be expected, she was really protective even before they started dating. Laudna is very self conscious, Imogen knows it, and doesn't like when other people are negative towards her.

Laudna/Mathilda was Vex, so that leaves Vax, Percy, and Grog unaccounted for. I think the Tiberius stand-in was actually a dragonborn, but Grog was just a beefy guy. So... very possibly.

This is a cast of smart-asses. They say a lot of things, and a whole bunch of them are just one off jokes.
