I bought a case for my Pixel 7 which came with a screen protector. Whilst I really like the inexpensive case the protector rendered the fingerprint reader useless. Please could you recommend some less expensive screen protectors that could be used instead? Not normally one for them but I love this phone so much I am wanting one that doesn't inhibit the fingerprint reader.

I use the whitestone glass on my pixel 6 pro and can say i had never a better glass. After 10 months on all side are correctly shielded, the colors on the display are always true and no problem with the fingerprint sensor and i had somy havy drops during this time. I started with the spigen foil, but i hate to touch it, the finger simply doesn't glide so well over the foil and the color reproduction is also affected. As a pixel fan, i have the 7 pro at home and waiting actually for the whitestone dome glass availability on Amazon to save the high costs for delivery frombus to germany. My Resume: For curved displays it is the best high class screen protection that i know. Installation isn't that easy, but it's worth it.

Used to have one on my Note 9. A small issue that I had was that the adhesive on the curved edges didn't adhere properly. No issues with the screen protector lifting off the screen on those curved edges, but you could see a "spider web" pattern on those edges due to air gaps forming in spots where the adhesive couldn't fully stick. It was only visible on a completely blacked out screen though. A much bigger issue is that taking off the screen protector (for when you want to replace it after it cracks) is a pain in the ass. The adhesive is strong and when you try to peel it off it doesn't stay in one piece - or even a few pieces. You need to chip it off as the screen protector shatters into a microscopic dust. I had take off the screen protector over the trash can so that none of the glass fell on the floor, and I wore a mask to prevent any of the microscopic glass from being inhaled.

Removing that screen protector must have damaged your screen. The anti fingerprint smudge coating (i.e. oleophobic coating) must have been damaged or worn off the screen after removal

Hey Damien, I've got the Pixel 7, i don't use a case on any of my phones as i'm quite good at taking care of my phones (so far). I rock a dbrands skin on the rear and i'm looking for a super thin screen protector as i like to place my phone face down. I purchased (then returned) an Amazon screen protector which was in my opinion way too thick and very noticeable. Based on this video, it looks like Dome Glass goes right to edge of the glass and almost unnoticeable from all angles. Can you or someone else with a Pixel 7 confirm that's the case? Really looking to keep the front looking as stock as possible. Cheers!

BUYERS BEWARE: I had the Whitestone for the Note10 Plus. The first install failed due to bubbles, they replaced it with the $9.99 processing fee (now it's $14.99). The second one was full of scratches after a year. Replaced again for $9.99. The third one chipped on the corners after 18 months. Can't be replaced because the model is discontinued. Lifetime warranty is not lifetime warranty.

This is gonna scratch because it's still glass. Any dust in your pocket with a hardness level 6 or greater can scratch glass. If it chipped on the corners after 18 months that seems like a great deal. Everything that you're describing seems more like a you problem, not a problem with the product.

i think i've heard that the lifetime warranty (although true), is still pricey. I think it's $15 for "handling fee" and you get only one protector. I just pre-ordered a 2 pack for $31. So at the end of the day, you still come out of pocket quite a bit for this "lifetime warranty." It's not far off from just re-ordering and getting an entire kit for 2 protectors.

A comparison to the similar-in-concept, but somewhat less expensive, IMBZBK tempered glass screen protector for the Pixel 7 Pro would be helpful. I found installation of the IMBZBK straightforward and, based on videos I've seen of the White Stone installation process, less prone to user error. Never having seen the White Stone in person, the main difference I can see in the products themselves is that the White Stone has a cut-out for the selfie camera and the IMBZBK does not. In limited photographic use thus far, I haven't found that an issue. Nor has it affected face unlock.

Ok, plz bear with me & be understanding/patient with me. I have the new Google Pixel 7 Pro which I got 2 days ago. This would be my 3rd Pixel since 2017 (Pixel 1 XL & Pixel 3 XL) So....the 2 physical problems I noticed right away are One) touching, tapping, swiping on this screen absolutely feels plastic & nothing like gorilla glass. I mean, the 3 XL screen without a doubt felt & looked like glass. I've done a little research the last 2 days & have only seen a few articles stating this is normal & the way Google's gorilla glass is. How can it be explained? Is it possible the phone I purchased from a Verizon store is not genuine? Two) The rattle that is obvious when shaking the phone coming from the camera area. Again, I've done some research & it was stated that this is completely normal due to the telephoto lens rocking around inside the housing. Apple, Samsung have the same issue but the loudest is the Pixel 7 Pro. Why would any phone maker release a phone that has this sound? There's absolutely no way there designers could have remedied this before release?

I got a cheaper version as the white stone one, by imbzbk, was almost half the price at $35 shipped, and you get 3 of them. Looks just like the factory screen and has been working great. Fit is very good on my Pixel 7 pro. Only thing is they did not do a cutout for the camera, the glue and glass also covers the camera. It does not effect face unlock, and doesn't seem to effect the camera in most conditions, however I did notice that in strong lighting directly into the camera, lens flares/glares seem to be worse with the protector on. Other than that, I'm happy with it.

how do you prevent dust buildup on the screen ? the instalation of the dome shield takes quite long, so surely there will be some dust on the screen or even worse the UV glue when you are finaly ready to install the glass
@goldeneyeforevercom
@goldeneyeforevercom Жыл бұрын
That is the biggest nightmare of any screen protection install. Just have the sticker at the ready. Check every single time during the install BEFORE you place the glass. It's stress. I would say I remove 10-20 pieces of lint or dust on average any time I do these. It's why I like to do this with new phone and remove boxes cover with a protection. You can't do that with these protectors unfortunately. I tried. The paper on the display gets stuck under the tabs. Must be removed. Just don't rub the top of the display with your finger when putting the tape over the top speaker.

Why does this have a camera cutout? There does not need to be a camera cutout for the selfie camera, as it will work just as well through any clear glass screen protector. Having a cutout just adds a place for dust and lint to collect. The QULLOO glass screen protector is one of the few ones that has no selfie camera hole, comes in a 2-pack alongside two glass camera bar protectors for €8,99.
@bakadeshi_aunstudios
@bakadeshi_aunstudios Жыл бұрын
It does effect the camera a bit, if you care about the picture quality be being as close to naked as possible, you may want the cut out. I imagine, for most people that don't even bother cleaning their screen before taking pictures it won't matter. The one I have has no cutout and I do see a change in how it handles lens flares mainly. Flares for glaring light is more pronounced with the protector on, but otherwise still looks great in normal lighting conditions.

In my experience with these protectors on curved devices (Pixel 6 Pro & S22 Ultra) if you drop your device and it lands on the curved edge of the display the screen protector will most likely chip and/or crack. I've used other glass screen protectors on non curved screen devices and they've handled drops etc. with no issues. Maybe this is due to the nature of curved displays and/or Whitestone Dome protectors are perhaps thinner than other protectors. So from my point of view it's hard to recommend for a curved device if you're prone to dropping your device, especially at that price point. Replacement warranty is nice to have, but annoying if everytime you drop you device you may have to replace it (in my case). I've gone with a TPU style protector for my Pixel 7 Pro this time around, even though it doesn't have the same nice feel as a glass protector but at least I know it won't chip/crack. If the screen wasn't curved I probably would of ended up with a Spigen Glass. I've used them in the past and they've been good and a lot cheaper than a Whitestome Dome Glass.

Plastic screen protectors only prevent scratches whereas glass screen protectors will also give some protection against cracks and blunt force because the glass protector will shatter before the phone screen, displacing a lot of the force. No. The answer, when the question involves whitestone dome, is always a resounding no. There are alternatives that are half the price. Whitestones are over-priced, and there are many options that involve the same process of glue and uv lights to dry and set a tempered glass screen protector that don't involve getting violated through the jeans. In addition, the "lifetime warranty" they provide involves you buying a replacement for $20. On top of that, you have to take a picture of the cracked screen, so make sure not to throw it away or take it off before snapping a pic, otherwise, you won't get that replacement. They also provide 1 screen for $50. Wtf is that?! One attempt at a process that sometimes doesn't go right because they don't provide a proper amount of glue, or because there is one speck of dust that lands on the screen because no one lives in a vacuum. Long story short, don't waste your money. Just look for tempered glass screen protector on Amazon and you'll see a few options that won't rip you off like these crooks do.

What does a "life-time warranty" actually mean? Does it mean they will ship another screen protector to the customer, or does it mean they will pay for the $200 Pixel screen replacement? 🙂 Also, how easy is it to remove the protector when the customer is ready to trade in the phone? edit: I checked their website. Their lifetime warranty is a joke. They only warranty the protector, not the device. The warranty is only good if they are still manufacturing the protector for the same model device and the user has to pay shipping and handling. So if they stop making the screen protector the next year, which I would expect they would do (why manufacturer a screen protector if the model is old), you are still out of luck. Joke's on the customer, it's not really lifetime but practical lifetime of a device if Whitedome still makes screenprotectors for that model a year or two from now.

TL;;DR No, no it's not worth it. It's a gimmick you're paying 50 bucks for 5 bucks worth of junk. Good grief.

Stay away from this trash company they say that there's a lifetime warranty but nowhere does it say you have to pay for shipping. Would not have payed the premium if I knew this was the case. even have to pay shipping if the glass arrived broken

Think of it as like a deductible. Apple Care? Any program you pay for a repair.

In the 13 years I've used smartphones, I've never broken one yet. Never understand how people can treat such an expensive item with so little care.

It's not always about not caring tbh, I have coordination issues, and especially did when I was younger due to my dyspraxia, so I used to drop stuff alot, saying that, the solution for me isn't a 50$ screen protector, it's a £12 case + a £6 glass screen protector

Totally get where you're coming from, but I was once like you. And then through no fault of my own, I accidentally broke my phone screen. Never, ever again would I go without a screen protector. You don't need it 'til you need it.

Same here man, I got my first Android phone in 2010, that was before tempered glass screen protectors were even a thing, I didn't even use a case on my phones from 2010-2018 and I've never broken a phone screen, never even came close, makes no sense how people always break their screens. Since getting the OG Pixel in 2018 I started using cases and I got the Pixel 7 now so a Spigen case and screen protector went on it right out of the box.

I've been a subscriber for a long time and over the last 6 months there's been a significant decline in production and writing content in these videos. Subject content is always good but the constant mis-spoke words or sentences that are never corrected gets tiresome and frankly makes the videos quite unnatural to follow. Also the constant over elaboration within every sentence is simply not needed. Maybe these are recorded in one take? In any case the quality of the overall video is really suffering in a market where your competitors are providing professional quality videos. Anyway, I zoned out a couple minutes into this VERY long video about a screen protector, but it looks good.

KZbin is a marketing platform, not an entertainment venue. They're just selling products the way good ol Billy Mays used to. Nothing more. Some people will buy the crap and some won't, nobody cares.
