How many watering holes per 100 acres?
@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751
@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751 8 ай бұрын
That greatly depends on elevation, dry acres, etc...but typically anywhere from 3 to 5. That's a rough estimate! 5 would be with a lot of elevation change...

@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751

It's a tough balance ..lots of time too many younger bucks equals too many does as well. Remove all the does see no bucks. There is a balance. Also, it is often hunting pressure related. Too much hunting pressure is deceiving because although there can be lots of does, fawns and young bucks hanging around...the older ones will leave.

@@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751I don't believe it is pressure, so if that is true, probably too many deer... This year was also tough getting food plots established in the fall with the drought...

I own a 50ft x 150ft lot with a house and garage on it right in the middle of town, will this work to explode buck numbers on my property? So far I have only seen 3 deer on my property and those were hanging in my garage after I shot them on someone else's property but maybe if I utilize these tactics I will see more deer in my garage.

Water is very important. I hunt in an area where there is a lot of bedding at the top of a mountain here in PA. There's a place on a powerline where a spring comes out and the water pools all year. It's the only water source for at least 1/2 to 3/4 mile. October and November the amount of tracks around it would lead you to believe there's hundreds of deer in the area although there isn't. It's simply the place deer visit regularly during the fall to get water when green vegetation is low and they are feeding primarily on green briars, acorns and woody browse. Or when bucks are really chasing. Can't overstate the importance of well placed water sources.

Good morning Jeff! I’ve watched almost every video you made in the last several years and you’ve stated most people don’t realize the true potential of their property. Understandably it depends on a multitude of factors in each situation. Given your Minnesota property and what you know, of the 40 or so bucks on your property what percentage of them would you expect to be mature? Say 3.5 years and up. Thanks for keeping the great information coming!
