Whitewater raft flips, rafter gets pulled underwater for 25 seconds. This guy was in the other boat in our group, it isn't me. Action starts about a minute into the video.

The lifejacket didn't start out loose... it kind of got that way after being pushed around in the hydraulic. I'm just glad I didn't get my clothes ripped off too.

As a river guide of 13 years flips are part of the business as well as the occasional suck down. What was sad to watch the the aftermath of trying to break the eddy line! Her angles were all wrong and she wasn't commanding her boat at all. With the right angle you don't have to work at all! Poor boating skills!

oh god this brings up bad memories. we used to go rafting down the rogue river when I was a kid and my mom decided that she would rather use her life jacket as a seat cushion than for its actual purpose. after complaining and almost crying she put it on at the end of the section of river we were rafting down and as fate would have it she fell out of the raft and got swept downriver. even though im happy she put the damn jacket on it would have been pretty ironiclly funny if she didnt and drowned, her using it to be comfortable and then the utter pain of drowning kinda like poetic justice

This is New Rapid on the Moab Daily Section, which at high water (30k +) has a very strong eddy, the line of which is what flipped the raft and held the video-taker down. Might want to tighten those pfd shoulder straps. Party on.
