For the record I always wear my helmet when in anything where waves are breaking, and often take it off on calm lakes when I am practicing. I understand your concern, but really? You didn't pay for this instruction, if you don't like it, go elsewhere.

What are your thoughts on going solo. I’ve gotten obsessed and I’m pretty new but am a pretty athletic person not trying to sound cocky. I just live in a remote area and I don’t really know many people. Been just hitting class 3 maybe some 4 sections. I have swam multiple times but I always scope rapids before. I just love doing things like this alone such a rush. am I just asking for it or do you also go alone at times??? Your a beast by the way huge influence to kayaking for me. Also I use a wave sport X got a full set up for 150. Thea boats a good bit older then I am Lol. EDIT DONT DO THIS

Armchair athlete? Athlete maybe not but an avid kayaker yes. Please view the videos on my channel of me and my friends running various grades of rivers up to grade 4+. I am level 4 standard paddler who has been paddling for 4 years. As for him being better than me? He probably is. Still doesnt mean he shouldn't wear a helmet whilst instructing. Also I am entitled to give an opinion so whether you agree with it or not please dont make personal attacks and deal with the content of my argument.

Yes, really. What has not paying got to do with it? Just because I dont approve of the way this man doesn't wear a helmet does not mean that I should simply "go elsewhere". The point is that wearing a helmet is an important safety element of the sport I am part of. Would you not put on a seatbelt when you get in the car just because you were "practicing"? The only practicing thing is a horseshit argument. Actively promoting safety is an integral part of an instructors role.
