@SoulShines4Music
@SoulShines4Music 4 жыл бұрын
@@jermaincooper26 - The "demands" of The Bodyguard soundtrack had *nothing* whatsoever to do with it. Whitney lost her voice because of the smoking, alcohol and drugs plain & simple. Whitney was at her peak vocal prowess in the early-mid 90's and The Bodyguard soundtrack is proof of that. However the voice is also a muscle like any other in the human body, abuse it long enough and you'll most definitely end up losing it. Sadly that's exactly what happened to Whitney. 😔

Whitney Houston was a vocal prodigy. Her voice is the platinum standard of what a woman's voice should be. Whitney's rendition of the star spangled banner is noted by critics as being the definitive version of the national anthem in history of the song. There aren't enough superlatives to describe how awesome Whitney was. I love the way she sang live. She was the rare artist who could interpret a live vocal performance in a million different ways and make it sound better than the studio version. Her ability to play with melody was absolute genius. Listening to her sing was pure ambrosia. Whitney Houston was a "Tour De Force" and left an unmatched musical legacy.

That’s because she changes the arrangement of the song so much it’s unrecognisable. I personally don’t like this as the songs don’t sound the same. Voice is still incredible but the songs are not as good as the recorded version. In my poor opinion you should be able to sing live like the recorded version but better. Not speaking some words then hitting big notes .
@coastalonyx
@coastalonyx 3 жыл бұрын
@@stevenatkinson162She was capable of singing "like the recorded version" of her songs. She had many promotional performances on various talk shows during which she stuck fairly close to the album version's phrasing. Her live concert recordings are probably what the original versions arrangements would have sounded like had she had more control over the production, writing and marketing of her image and material. Remember, she was groomed not to sound "too black" to establish and maintain mass appeal.These live recordings are superior to the recordings because they showcase her true artistry, musicianship and interpretive ability, much of which was influenced by gospel music. The original recordings are all pretty much paint by numbers until the "I'm Your Baby Tonight" album. Her ability to reinterpret and reinvent her songs is one of the abilities that distinguished her from her peers and followers. She was true live singer to her core. And the "speaking some words" is an artistic choice which helps to create a more conversational mood furthering the performance's emotional poignancy.

I think people always miss the point when it comes to Whitney Houston and her amazing career! People always wanna know where it went wrong and want to talk shit about certain performances in later years and talk about her decline, but what people need to concentrate on is that this woman had an amazing god given talent that soared to heights unlike any other singer! No one could touch her voice or talent while she was alive and no one in my book will ever again sing as well as this woman! I dont care about what happened in Whitney's personal life cause that was her business (and lets face it we all have issues and a past) I am just thankful that she shared her gift with us for as long as she did! People always seem to miss the true magnitude of this womans voice and talent and wanna talk about her drug use and that is just shameful the woman is no longer with us! Sit back and enjoy the amazing catalog of music she left behind and the amazing live performances and let her soul rest in peace! As a teenager I was lucky enough to dance off-stage for Whitney at a concert in Kansas City (Mo), where I also had flowers and hundreds of balloons delivered to her backstage. and I have her hundreds of balloons (1987). I was was lucky to experience her kindness on stage with my family and one of my best friends watching. She just asked, "so you are the one who sent me balloons and flowers?" I said "yes, read the card," and she read it aloud, "If you really want to dance with someone who loves you, you gotta dance with me." I was 16. Her security didn't let it happen. But those few moments will never leave me. If she read the rest of my letter she knew her music helped me survive high school. Maybe she never did read anything I wrote. It didn't matter - her music, and her passion helped me to stay alive through High School and years after. I can't know why she left us so early in her life, I can only say this - she helped save my life. Only one simple life, but a life that matters to me and those closest to me. I wish I had been given the opportunity to tell her so many years later how she helped me. I hope she understands that now in a way none of us can explain (and some don't believe).

I believe whole heartedly she did read your letter. It might have given her comfort on the road touring. She loved children. I too saw Whitney in concert. People were in amazement on how incredible she and her voice were. I was like 12 but I will never forget her concert. It was magical and right before her album "Whitney" was released. Her music helped me get through high school too being bullied.

She was unbeatable. Even though people like to place Celine and Mariah in the same level as her, she was actually way above them. Her voice had a solidness none of the others have, her singing was soothing and the most pleasant and beautiful, besides her level of professionality. She was and is the archetype of a singer, the ideal a singer is always striving to achieve.

I often wonder what was going through her mind each and every time she opened her mouth to entertain the world... her voice was one in a billion, it can never be duplicated! Many things set Whitney Houston apart from most singers; the sheer strength and timbre of her voice for starters but most importantly, her confidence and mastery over her voice which allows her to interpret a song differently and effortlessly every time she sings it. With Whitney, you never get an exact duplicate of the recorded version but a stunning and fresh rendition every time....a true vocal virtuoso!

i never understood how people can compare whitney to Mariah...Mariah could sing, could reach high and low notes, could belt, she had a voice, she was a real songbird.........but whitney (apart from all this) had much more than that, she had presence, she had power, strength, she was a real "LIVE" artist. Whitney at her best times was unique. miss her. THIS CONCERT WAS THE BEST I'VE SEEN OF HER.
@PhongNguyen-vt3cg
@PhongNguyen-vt3cg 9 жыл бұрын
+Jokin a They' re on the same level, like Mariah or not but you must give her that credit which she deserves. If she could only sing, belt, rich high/low notes,etc (like you said) she would be the average singer, but she's the truly queen just like Whitney was. Her power at upper belts, agility, exact of pitch, unique using of melisma and her musicality are something set her apart from all another singers and thats what Whitney never had
@jokina9289
@jokina9289 9 жыл бұрын
phong nguyen sy quoc I agree with you when you say that Mariah was also a TOP Singer, Whitney and Mariah were on their own league. I personally think that Whitney was waaaay better in her live concerts, where she interacted, moved and showed much more poise, stage presence, voice projection and overall power than Mariah. Mariah did not usually take risks and she did not move and give it all as Whitney did. This is why Mariah did not get soooo tired and sweated like whitney. This means that mariah did not get so exhausted and may be could reach some high notes with a more accurate pitch. But as i said, this is not because whitney could not do this, it is because whitneys concerts were much more exhausting and it was more difficult to be accurate in every sense. By the way.....Sorry i did not quite understand....what is it that Whitney never had? power at upper belts? agility? exact pitch? Musicality? You must be kidding!!

When she switched from "didnt we almost have it all" to "where do broken hearts go" was insanely well done that it's really hard to notice that change if you are not familiar with those songs... when she started walking around the stage with the mic and holding such a very high note was also amazing!
