Absolute chills. No one will touch this rendition. Not just because she sang with so much power, perfect pitch, great control and placement, but because she told a story. She sang the second verse with such a soft conviction. She didn’t just belt and scream the entire time. She used different areas of her voice to give a nuanced performance of a song that’s been done to hell. Stop comparing people to Whitney’s version. It isn’t fair. This transcends vocal talent. This is pure musicianship and an untouchable talent for understanding the details of the voice and the way one can enhance a story through their style of vocal.

Lip syncing is such a stupid debate. Yes, she lip synced it. It's well-documented, so stop questioning that. It also doesn't make her a worse singer for it. Pre-recorded tracks get used in all kinds of live events when it's hard to run live sound, and every great singer has mimed to a track at some point. You only find out about it when there's a malfunction.

The fact that people are still coming here, watching this, and commenting on its near-perfection 30 YEARS after the performance is almost as astounding as the performance itself. Her delivery is so calm and straightforward yet you know that her power is right there ready to be unleashed. Classy, elegant, and amazing - she will never be outdone.
