Yes, I agree, Aretha, Whitney, and then Mariah, The fourth could be a tossup between Celine and someone else. But these women historically Change the music over the course of the last 50 years

Dionne Warwick is on that Mount Rushmore. She’s one of the best technical vocalist of all time. That’s why Whitney studied her.
@ray4real242 ай бұрын
Not to mention Dionne is also criminally underrated (now, not during her prime). She has some of the hardest and most technical songs ever.

I was going through a lot of stuff during my graduation year of 1988. This song was the seed of me learning to love myself. I'm 53. Whitney has passed. Her daughter passed. And, I am still learning to love myself through the years. Her singing gave me hope.

I’m glad you finally reacted to this-I’ve asked you to do so about 2-3 years ago bro lol. If you’re going to put a disclaimer like the Mt Rushmore thing then you’d have to look at a few other artist like Dionne Warwick, Barbara Streisand and Donna Sunmer…just to name a few. But I do agree with your analogy of putting Aretha on there-just historically speaking. One more reaction that you MUST MUST MUST MUST react to is an audio of Whitney singing I Am Changing in San Francisco 1986. It’s a must listen/react to-definite game changer as to why Whitney is top tier.
@MarcelleLeiturasPreguicosas11 ай бұрын
He talked about Celine Dion and I was "noooo, the white Aretha is Barbara Streisand", every Rachel Berry wants to be Funny Girl because of her, so for me it's Aretha, Barbra, Whitney, and for the fourth I would have to think, Mariah is very unique but she is not so historical as the others, so I don't know
@odumosuolusegun278111 ай бұрын
@@MarcelleLeiturasPreguicosas Mariah is disqualified, she is not an authentic vocalist in the style of the greats... She just is not. All that fake vocals and dubbing.

@@odumosuolusegun2781Always come in with facts and I’m here for it!! Keep up the good work! And I know disagree on this but I think this performance is the best one of this song-the interpretation, the arrangement (especially towards the end when the band started playing a little funk music) like everything about this performance was perfection. I know you prefer the Arista version but to me this is the number one version.
@odumosuolusegun278110 ай бұрын
@@jobuck879 Yes I love the arista version a lot and also MSG 1988 where she held the 20 sec note! and ofcourse the rough growly version of 1989 where she was honoring her mother, introduced by Dionne! I love love that version because of the rawness

i completely agree with what u said about the mt rushmore thingy. even if you didn't like aretha or if she wasn't like your fave ro whtv you just have to have her in the top 4 or 5. like literally no matter what. not only was she an amazing vocalist but inspired the later whitney, mariah and celine (and MANY others). and those 3 alone have inspired so many others even some we all recognize today. like ari, tori, mori, demi, christina, jenifer, kelly, etc, etc, etc. like without aretha it'd be hard to tell what or more so who could've come after. like not saying mariah, celine, and whitney would've been nothing without aretha but just saying if she didn't inspire them and all the others that came after her we might not have gotten all the legends and queens we have and have had (whitney RIP) today.
