I'd put Dimash on the contention list for greatest singer of all time. He's got a fantastic set of pipes. EDIT: Please note, this is not meant to shit on Whitney. She was a fantastic vocalist as well. However, Dimash has been evaluated by dozens of professional coaches and vocalists and they've all said he's objectively one of the best singers of all time. If you don't like his voice or his techniques, that's fine, but objectively his talent is next level (and so was Whitney's).

This version is amazing, but you MUST to hear the London version she did (link below) a month after this one. Believe it or not, it is even more intense, dramatic and operatic than this one. It is downright scary. Male tenors like Pavorotti would BOW in submission to it. Whitney in her prime (and at her most powerful) was a like a 300 pound male opera tenor, a 300 pound black female gospel singer and Barbara Streisand trapped in the body of a 115 pound, tall, regal, real life black Barbie doll/runway model. Put your headphones on and start it at the 2 minute mark to skip her chatting with the audience and be prepared to have your mind blown even harder. I'd love to hear your reaction. Her majestical and God given talent had risen to a totally higher level. She had raised the bar in music. No one has mastered this measurement of skills ever. She had "everything" going for her. Classy high quality. Non like it ever!

Say it agaaaainnnn! She was chosen. Half earth angel/half extraterrestrial 👽 lol To be so immensely gifted and incomparable is both a blessing and a burden. I can only imagine the great high's and low's that come with such a heavy 👑. Why she allowed herself to pick up a cigarette habit with a voice like this is beyond me. Everyone harps on the drug use as the culprit but it was the chain-smoking of Newports and years of over-touring all over the globe (to make up for whatever revenue she missed out on by not having songwriting credentials) is what did her voice in. I am thankful for KZbin and doubly greatful to whomever captured these amazing bootleg performances that aren't as widely known as her big mainstream hits, music videos and award show performances. This is Whitney UNLEASHING the full weight of her powers, in the prime of her youth like a real life female superhero.

Lake a vocally immense barge, she takes us on a transcendent journey. Sometimes she rises in an out pouring of lamentation, then again she drives the song along and spices it up with brutally shrill Headvoice resonance. This audience sporadically applauds, cheers her on, but falls silent as if dumbfoundet when she let's it stew At the end she literally whips it up and has a great exchange of blows with the drummer. - Oh Lord, she floats away from it all like a crystal clear, hauntingly barbaric fountain of youth.... 💜💜💜💜

THE FIRST time that I heard this, I was laying in my bed, alone in the dark, except for the laptop playing this video and after that run around the 4 minute mark, I sat straight up in my bed and looked around a dark empty room to see if anyone else had heard it. No lie. I still don't know why I did that but I just had to know if anyone else had heard the absolute shocking, magnificence that I had just heard even though I knew I was alone. I just couldn't believe it and I still can't. Although Mariah Carey is my favorite singer, even I can admit that Whitney was, is, and will ALWAYS BE the very best singer that ever lived. Period. Miss her every day. Love you too life Ms. Houston and I always will...

Omg I can relate at the four minute mark when she hit that C6 after the serious of vocal attacks that put me in awe, she executed it so perfectly and flawlessly and effortlessly that it made me realize - Mrs. Houston is really "the Voice."' I literally got goosebumps and jumped right when I heard that part of the song, a truly remarkable rendition.

I know most people associate Whitney with IWDWS and IWALY, but I feel this particular performance (along with the NYC and London versions) is the DEFINITIVE Whitney Houston live performance. It is quite possibly the most incredible live vocal performance ever to take place, on Planet Earth. This is her battle cry. She weilded the power and incandescent beauty of her voice, as if she were some sort of Demi goddess superhero from another universe. She is the missing Avenger--or the vocal equivalent to Storm, from the X-MEN. It's like she wasn't human. Whitney severed the heads of every singer (past present future, male/female) to ever hold a mic. She snatched both Jennifer Holiday and Hudsons wigs with this one. It's nearly impossible for me to listen to other singers renditions of this song, without giggling myself into a coma. She may be gone, but her voice will live on...even long after the world comes to an end. Her voice will echo through eternity and beyond. I truly beileve this. Simply put. Hilarious, you're a total nut. This is truly awful in every sense. Most normal people would walk out half way through, or fall to sleep. The more I hear of this junk the more it dawns just how bad Houston was, nothing remotely artistic or beautiful to be found, just boring soulless exhibitionism. Truly dire, only demented people are entertained or moved by this.

@@markdrinkwater1508 yo your really a hater on Whitney Houston you keep saying nothing artistic but what artist do you know who sound better than the studio version everytime. She made her song sound different every time she sang with different improvising, runs, melody just made it different everytime. That takes a trained artistic eat. You say she's not artistic but for her to take someone's song and make it her own the best selling single by a female is artistic. I can go on and on I just seen you in the last comment if you don't like Whitney so much get the fuck off the video with your hate. I never understood why people comment with negative shit and hate just move on or go watch your favorite your comment doesn't change the world's opinion

I'm going to put this out there right now. Whitney Houston tore this song up to a way that can only be described as transcendent.... I love Mariah Carey, and Celine Dion. But neither one of these two ladies can come close to what Whitney did on this one song... When I first heard Jennifer Hudson sing the song I thought it was absolutely incredible, and then I listen to Jennifer Holliday singing the song and I thought that no one can match that. Then the tsunami that was Whitney Houston slayed this song beyond all comprehension and let me tell you this, if the three of them were competing for the part of Effie, Whitney Houston would have won this hands down. This is the best version of the song that I have ever heard and I will likely never hear another female Touch This. The complexity and range of emotion that she portrayed in this song it's something that I've never heard Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, and even the great Aretha Franklin and Patti LaBelle touch. To me she is the best female vocalist of all time.

YOU. SAID. THAAAAT. I've been campaigning for this performance ever since I discovered it in 2007. Whenever I meet someone new and the subject of music and great singers comes up--I play this (along with the London and New York version) for them and just sit there, grinning from ear to ear looking at their reactions. I've never been more moved, fascinated and transfixed by a live vocal performance in my life. It's like she wasn't even human when she sang this. I don't think I'll ever hear a live vocal based performance that can touch this. EVER. The cadence, power, breath control, emotion, grit and incandescent ethereal beauty of her voice in this performance can only be described as otherworldly. Pure vocal sorcery. She's in warrior mode and her voice is the weapon. Whitney severed the heads of both J.Holliday and J. Hudson; then proceeded to joyfully kick the heads around, like FIFA World Cup soccer balls.
@barramundi46046 жыл бұрын
Well said, sir. She was simply the best. I can hear the beauty and power in Mariah, Celine and others. However, Whitney is the only one I can always feel. She's the one who touches my soul every time. She is, sincerely, the only one who can cause a tear to fall with one note. I saw her 3 times in concert in 5 nights. She was unapproachable as a vocalist in her prime between '85 and '94.

During an interview (I think in the late 90s) Oprah Winfrey, the queen of the talk shows said that when Whitney hit those high notes, it makes you want to cry. It was an interview just before Whitney launched her studio album " my love is your love" with a series of live shows within the United States. Well this is what Oprah was referring to - vocal prowess that is simply untouchable, cannot be equalled( much less surpassed) and incomparable!! As I have repeatedly said in the past, and will continue to say until the end of time, this sister's talent knew no boundaries. and whose popularity transcends musical styles - testimony to her jaw- dropping, awe-inspiring versatility!! If you are a true music lover with keen listening skills, you will hear in this song among other amazing qualities, the repeated but effortless movement from what Michael Narada Walden( one of the world's top 10 music producers) refers to as chest voice to head voice. This constant movement between the 2 "voices" as well as her mastery of melisma( the packing of different tones/ notes in a single syllable) were effectively demonstrated in this song. Whitney, we know for sure no one did it like you did it, and equally sure, there will never be another You!! R.I.P. I will always love and eternally cherish both you as a decent, selfless, graceful and sincere human being, and your unparalled musical legacy. You gave of yourself so unselfishly and sincerely, only to be housed, disrespected, unfairly attacked and ridiculed by the sensational media! But fret not thyself, as ultimately, God and not man will be the judge of all of us! Baulbeer Persaud
