Whitney is a great example of how strong you can make your voice in the passaggio area even with a lighter voice.

When you say lighter you are referring to her vocal weight/output right? I think that she has a bright voice, why do you say she has a light voice

15:00 "that's hide" - I like this minute most. I "just listened", and totally agreed with the speaker, then reviewed visually, and realized that the point he makes would have escaped me. So, good hint! I get it from here that the visuals are able to emphasize a lot what the singing might be not just an imitation of but some other way, I guess more to the speaking, that is rational, logical side: to teach and tell others about, not exactly what you are thinking but "more important" what you are feeling towards them. Thus, what I wanna like about the video is the "making feel inclined", not literally, but visually, as Houston is "presented" as a good actor. Also mentioned is the "background" singing she did in a cover, now , that just beats me as for now. Haven't got it yet... I see, no insider, wannabe I am. Thanks for showing me that and so much more! Never mind my being bubbly, thank you for letting me be --- I am into "logical song", set theory, and it crossed my mind that there is no good translation, maybe (see "kindergarden", for the German word "Vorbild" which may be "role model" in American English. To cut short: "that's hide" sounds like some irony, but it is still relating to some other person in what I'd call cut set way - assimilating, "that's fun", one of a kind fund - and it is not relating to some "Vorbild", in my theory, that's "not like him/her/them". The latter, and I was enabled to falsify on that, might just relate to language as such, i.e. to speaking and "complimenting". To cut short, let me oppose "couplet" to "compliment". The latter is the lyrics, but it seems unclear to me if it's the consonants; it should be. Edit/Insert: "What's the take-away?" reminds me of "take it away", which, as I think I leaned to better understand here, is a standard saying among musicians whenever a solo, impro start, however in the world of delivering pizzas basically a kind and friendly "waiver of no concern" (take a pizza: you might "enjoy" without really appreciating, as you are hungry, more important for all you us, though, is your money you did leave and did not--not give for eat.) With this video, I got a new understanding of a line sung by Mick Hucknail, "Take it away". Just like Whitney Houston above he seemed to have "acted" on the idiom, modifying the meaning "with a sung", interestingly, according to my thoughts in just the opposite way Houston appears to do: not on the vowels but in fact on the consonants; see above, corroborates my thoughts on consonants relating to the beat, the rhythm which to me is the necessity of life, of lives, if not living. What I couldn't help but do having seen the video: to think of the singer as element in a cut-set and a sub-set at the same time. Singers that "act" (did find inspiration in your video, as you mentioned "background singing" ) might in their very singing act both, at the same time, in their role as element of "their" sub-set (the choir seen as one subset that, on higher grounds, is able to ironize the vowels i.e. the heights and lows towards some other subset (both can be seen as a couple, too); this irony at the same, if heard by the object of irony seen in a sub-set is very literally "no fun", as the singer towards that "kind of guy" acts as a role-model, as a "cook"; at least that guy who sings along should learn to appreciate what's beyond the front row. If he not even does - appreciate - he may feel free to "take it away", at best. "Sing-led out". Again, thank you for not telling me to delete this bubbly of mine! Hopefully, all other videos will be that influential. I shall not take to some other comment of that sort though, I promise!

I have a question. Whistle tones. Since it isn’t natural vocal phonation, is it something that only lyric and coloratura sopranos should be doing? Because their range is right next door to that. Is it something that most people should proceed with in caution? Or can anybody do it with the right knowledge and technique?
@NewYorkVocalCoaching6 ай бұрын
Anyone can do Whistle Voice! It hasn't been shown to be helpful for vocal development though. For high notes at the top of your range, we recommend focussing the majority of your attention on Flageolet as it has many benefits for the voice. Check out Ep. 36 of Quick Singing Tips for more info! -NYVC

We're glad you enjoyed it! We're looking to show examples of a wide range of things! Our teachers choose videos that help to illustrate the point they are making, so using only the singer's best performances is not our goal. Our main goal is education and it can be helpful for vocal students to see that even the greatest artists and performers have imperfect performances. We are also limited in what KZbin allows us to use and sometimes we have to choose videos that aren't our first pick. We hope this info helps! :) Thanks for watching! -NYVC
