It is easy to listen to Whitney Houston and appreciate the natural ability and at the same time, just write off your own voice as "not that talented". But we must resist the urge to get discouraged and instead, study what she does and HOW she sings. When you do this, you can find little tips and gems that can be useful for literally every singer. In this lesson, I am going to show you the greatest of many takeaways I've applied to my singing over the years.

I honestly believe her prime was in the early 90's or 89-92. Of course in the 80's she had crazy range, but I think in the early 90's she had 90-95% of her 80's range but it seemed she discovered YET ANOTHER level of control of her voice as well as her voice kind of naturally maturing. I love me some I'm Your Baby Tonight and Bodyguard era live performances.

I'm a 21 year old countertenor and I find it difficult to hit a note using purely upper chest just like in 3:01. It turns out to be mixed or somehow in female sound. So, it amazes me when I hear a male singer singing that high using their chest voice. I can hit chest up to F4 and mix up to B5. My voice has just been exercised singing in Whitney since when I was a kid.

Hey Chris, The Reason Why I Love Whitney Houston & Aretha Frankin So Much Because The Come From Place But Diffferent Church's . Whitney Houston & Aretha Franklin Can Sing Both Secluar & Gospel Music. I For One Rather Have Jennifer Hudson To Sings All The Songs Of Aretha Franklin & Whitney Houston.

That would be great...dissecting a performance, correlating singing technique bit by bit all while critiqing throughout.

@@raganelle it would have been nice if we could have seen the actual performance as he critique. “Performance” as in HER vocal performance,, not his..Whitney’s voice is incomparable..I felt like he was critiquing himself not Whitney voice which is two totally different styles and range..jmo🤷🏽‍♀️
