FINALLY!! Somebody is acknowledging how talented CISSY HOUSTON is. Reminds me of an interview when Cissy Houston said, "Why would I be jealous of her [Whitney]? I made her what she is." Let'em know Cissy!!!
@edwardmokoena5998 Жыл бұрын
Cissy is one of the most talented folks whom we don't talk about. We talk mostly about the daughter saying she is the best, number one and all that. Forgetting that it was her mother who trained the daughter and remember Whitney Houston never lived to be that old as the mother or Dionne Warwick the cousin, where her voice and energy will get compromised because of age and all toxins we consume. Why compare a youth to an elder?

@BWPTravel Жыл бұрын
@@edwardmokoena5998 I agree, its so funny, but I will say its not age, its tone. People don't like her done. Cissy vocals are styled by the era she comes from, the early 30s. She sounds a lot like Marion Williams, they have a yodel like tone and it was very popular in Gospel singers in those days. Its so odd, how people can try to dismiss Cissy when she was revered by arguably the #1 and #2 greatest singers of all time (Aretha & Whitney).

And this is why I never understood why ppl compared Mariah to Whitney. They are two totally different singers. They both have amazing voices but Whitney had that gospel background that really brings a more soulful, and captivating vibe. I love MC, but there is just something about Whitney that to me NO ONE can top. It’s not just the voice, it’s the soul, her storytelling through song, stage presence, ughhhh she was just so God gifted ❤❤❤

Jaron what you said about siblings is so true. My dad had 8 brothers and 1 sister. They all could play an instrument and sing. In fact, my dad and 5 of his brother actually had a semi-professional gospel group. They would open for other gospel stars like The Gospel Keynotes, The Mighty Clouds of Joy, Rev James Cleveland, Shirley Ceasar. They knew how to play off each other. My dad also had 2 best friends, one who was a famous gospel singer back in the day-that man was married to my aunt (my moms sister) and they had a couple of daughters. We grew up together-almost like sibling. We would sing together at church. We knew how to ad lib and harmonize with each other. Now that we’re all older, when we get together for any occasion we sing together. Last time we sang some old school songs and the next afternoon on my mothers front porch we sang some old gospel songs. My mothers next door neighbor came outside to watch and listen.
