her voice still had power... it was honestly not the drugs, it was cigarettes... she smoked a lot of cigarettes even since 1983.. she had to cut out cigarettes from 1995 cause thats when i noticed her voice started to change

I completely understand that cigarettes were the MAJOR contributing factor to her decline but we also can't overlook the drugs and also how overworked the woman was. She probably would've had vocal problems without the cigarettes tbh, she was doing over 120 dates per tour, the bodyguard being her longest, with over 140 dates. That along with her ridiculously difficult catalogue, it was a testament to her talent and technique that she kept it together for so long.

I love Whitney, I can tell this tour wore her out though. I bet if she didn't have that tour so soon, and took more time to practice more & had a shorter tour, she would've been alright.
