Bhagawan Ramana used to say one interesting thing while discussing on the Seer , Seen and the process of seeing the World via Body , Mind, Intellect, Ego and finally how the Self is at the substratum of all . He has compared this to a Movie Screen, the Projecter, Film and the Electric Current. That tiny ray of light which hits the big Screen and brings about all the fanfare is compared to the Consciousness. The paradox here, he avers, that we too are in the midst of the screen enjoying as well as crying over the fanfare that's reeled out in the screen, our Self , which is the substratum [ Witness ] of all the activities [ shadow based, ofcourse ] in this mela.

😀 well Swami ji truelly what you explained is much better than any online vedant acharya I mean literally, and it is also true that when a human desire/interest got awake/become more intense to get to know oneself n feel restless untill they discovered the ultimate truth means he is on the way to his home ,spiritual journey had started n this is the sign of person to liberate yet it's process,this is advance Level ques , many self proclaimed vedantik master breath goes swelled up to give ans this doubt, but I think many listeners still in confusion :) First our vedanta said that we are the observer and at the last they refused it we are not even observer!but one more steps higher than this,dn who we are ?beyond observe/knower/seer and with respect thers clear ans but it's your show :) by the way what we are here talking about is info/process/methods/ 'experience' is goal of vedanta , Unless the teachings of Vedanta are clearly understood/fit in one's own 'experience'/'feeling',/realization , the words are just info but again I enjoyed a lot :) 🙏🚩 I 'know' I'm pure consciousness but que is did i 'experienced' it ? In the commentary to the Panchadashi 11.14, the > commentator Sri Ramakrishna Pandita gives an etymology thus: त्रयाणां > ज्ञातृज्ञानज्ञेयरूपाणां पुटानाम् आकाराणां समाहारः त्रिपुटी | (The > collection of the three 'forms' of knower, knowing and known is called > tripuTee). The WITNESS of the tripuTee !

Witness means it must be knowing something. But it won't be affected with the happenings whether good or bad, happy or sorrow all the duals. This was told in the context of Bahirmukh. In case of Antarmukh you are not witness or knower. There is no second to know or witness.

I think here the "Atman" as in verse 7 of Mandukya Upanishad- an attempted "Atman" definition gives the answer- neither inwardly conscious, nor outwardly conscious, neither a combination of both, and so forth ... one begins to understand the Atman, so, the "the seer, the seen and the act of seeing are all seem invalid- fir that ti hapoen the "Indriyas" need to be turned "ON"....
