I was in a weekly Kid Nation Twitch watch along stream earlier this year. The show was insane and some of the was spilled on Reddit in like 2014. The show apparently had a 2020s resurgence thanks to Netflix (which is how I ended up in the watch along). A KZbinr (Eric the Barber) found and interviewed several of the kids (now adults) in 2020-2021, and is a writing a book on the the show. The drama, and lawsuits that followed, are hilarious (and messed up).

After this JonTron video, I actually did later watch Kid Nation, since all the episodes can be watched on KZbin. Honestly despite how morally wrong creating a show about leaving 40 kids in the desert with minimal adult supervision, it was honestly an enjoyable show to watch. Apparently from what I understood. The kids actually did well... too well in fact where the team behind the show, basically forced drama by dumping rubbish everywhere to force an episode topic at one point. There are other drama stuff as well, but I don't remember details, so I won't go into it. There also many different memorable people in the show with their own character arcs. There are interviews with the children from the show grown up, talking about their experiences on KZbin.

One of my favorite Jon Tron videos. A lot of the questions you have will be answered in the next video. Basically the reason jon only covered what he did so far is that the rest of the show was buried as deeply as the studio could manage, for reasons that will become clear next week. I think the show is more available these days but for awhile the first episode was all that was readily available.

Will say, with the good star being said to be worth 20k, and u saying I assume the current price when recorded for gold. The show ran in 07 and Google says an ounce of gold was in the range of 600-700 per ounce which would make a 2 pound gomd star in the 20-22k range.

I just googled it, Gold was ~700 an ounce in 2007 so yeah... 20,000 dollars. Especially since it's not going to be 24k gold... a kilo of gold is tiny compared to that star, 1.5x3 inches and less than 3/4 inch thin. Gold is crazy dense when pure. I'd say that's a solid gold 18k star... If the kids had it today, it would be worth 55k... which is why Gold is always a good anti-inflation investment. The value of gold didn't go up, inflation happened for 20 years.

I was too old for this show :< Shame cause I would have solved their food problem... I was cooking from scratch in middle school cause my dad is an italian grandma. I still remember 6th or 7th grade we had HomeEc to teach basics of cooking... I was the only one who knew how to hold a knife, dice an onion, or what a poached egg was... Although most millennials still cant do that now so why would they be able to do it 20 years ago...

Prepare to be shocked here...Jimmy will tell stuff that will make you wretch....Stuff like Kids Drank Bleach and such as well as one kid's face getting burned from an oil fire....These kids REALLY had to cook and clean for themselves when they had no clue how to do so, had to sleep on pancake mattresses, itchy blankets in the freezing nights of the deserts and with no heaters or air conditioners, and the only adult intervention was to just make things worse for the kids just so they can have another challenge.
