Who Are Jen & Kira's Parents?

To some it may seem simple to figure out, but when you starting getting into the details it can become confusing with so many possibilities. As of right now, i'm a big fan of these particular ideas, but anything can change as we get more details!

A clarification: Someone recently pointed out to me that i was being unclear in one part of this theory. At the end of the video, i talk briefly about Deet "seeing through her daughters eyes." But some think it lacks meaning because it's not Jen, it's Rian. I didn't mean Deet was literally looking through Kira's eyes, because of course she's dead at that point. What i meant was she is witnessing this from Kira's perspective, on the floor. Even though it's her friend Rian, she's seeing him do what Jen will do. Looking up at him, not through him. However, i would be willing to make the correction that Deet might be looking through the eyes of the Crystal itself, not an individual.

I agree, not only do we see Deet's vision of Brea fleeing a Garthim with baby Kira, but the insignia on Kira's dress is specifically Brea's triskelion, rather than the traditional Vapran clan symbol, tying her more specifically to Brea. And Kira definitely looks more Vapran than Grottan.

I really like your idea that Kylan is Jen's father. That makes sense because firstly, Jen has a Firca and seems to very talented in playing it (like Kylan, perhaps it is even the same flute) and secondly because in the books Kylan talks a lot about the folk hero Jarra-Jen. So that is where Jen's name could come from.

If you watch Deet’s visions from the sanctuary tree- the puppet running with the childling when paused looks like Brea. In the movie, Kira shares this similar dreamfast memory with Jen, but I don’t know if that means Brea is Kira’s mother, or they just used her puppet to reenact that scene, since they used Rian’s puppet to reenact Jen reuniting the shard with the crystal. Or maybe that’s a hint for both of them? I’m so excited to find out!

For my opinion, the piece of vision of Deet, when we see Brea running away from the gharthim who chased her, could signify that: or the baby is Kira and she is her daughter; or Kira is the daughter of Deet, taken by Brea in that moment of danger. This is my opinion, of course.

I’m fairly certain one of the symbols on Jen’s clothing looks like it’s the stone in the wood clan symbol, leading me to again believe he’s more stone in the wood than spriton and still possibly Rian’s son or descendant. the pattern on Kira’s dress looks like the necklace worn by the vapran farmer’s wife, leading me to believe Kira May have more vapran connections, along with the mother in deet’s vision running with her baby looking suspiciously like Brea. But I don’t know. I think it would be funny if they weren’t related to any of them honestly, and everyone theorized over nothing.

I've actually been trying to figure this out ever since I watched Age of Resistance! I think that the more important features to focus on are appearance, since Jen could've gotten those personality traits from being raised by the mystics, and Kira could've gotten hers from being raised by the podlings. At first glance, you can obviously tell that Jen looks Stonewood, and Kira looks Vapra. Although, since they were born after the clans came together, they very well could be mixed. I really like the theory that Kylan is Jen's father, I've never thought of that before. It makes a lot of sense. I was thinking that he might've been Rian and some Vapra's son, since he was blonde as a baby, but I think that it's more likely that he's the son of Kylan and a Stonewood. I don't think that he would have such Stonewood features if he was only a quarter, especially since Kylan doesn't have any blue in his hair. The more I think about it, himm being blonde as a baby may not necessarily mean that he's part Vapra, as in humans, at least, hair tends to darken over childhood. I don't think that we've seen any Stonewood infants in Age of Resistance yet, so it could be that all/most Stonewoods start out with blonde hair that darkens over time. That, or it could just be that that was the original idea for the movie, but was then scrapped once the world was developed more afterwards. As for Kira, while I can see her parents being Rian and Deet, she does look alarmingly Vapra. Deet has greenish skin, and Rian's skin is tan, yet Kira's skin is pale like a Vapra. Obviously, though, since they were designed at different times, that doesn't necessarily rule them out as her parents. Another thing to consider is the brief glimpse that we get of Kira's mom in both the movie and Age of Resistance. We can see that she's blonde and fairly light-skinned. She looks Vapra to me. Plus, there are also the characters of the comics to consider, particularly the one set during the Garthim Wars. Anyways, those are just my thoughts, I've spent a lot of time thinking on it. I love that you made a video on this!

Some people point out with Kira that the name itself is similar to "Mira", Jen's girlfriend who was the first Gelfling sacrificed to get essence. So some think Kira was named in line with her. If the names had meaning in the Glefling language then "Kira" and "Mira" would have similar but slightly different meanings with their connection being the word "ra". We don't know what the names are like though.

That would be great evidence if in the breakfast scene between Jen and Kira in the 1982 movie told us that Kira's adoptive posting mother named her Kira after she founder her as a baby after the garthing war. But if they hadn't said that in the movie, I'd be convinced.

The only problem I have with this theory is that I really believe that Kira must have royal heritage... it was very symbolic that she sat on a throne in the movie. If it weren't for that I would agree with and adopt this theory. Maybe Deet has royal blood?

It could be that Maudra Argot was Deet’s grandmother and it was just never stated? I’ve also wondered if Maudra Ferra and Rian were related somehow? Like maybe she was his aunt but she didn’t have any daughters, so maybe since it’s a matriarchal order it would pass through Rian her nephew who would one day have a daughter named Kira? The throne that she sits on in the movie looks very similar to the Stonewood throne, so perhaps it was a foreshadow that she would’ve been the next Maudra of the Stonewood clan?

The series seems strongly to imply that Kira is at least partially Vapran and royal, possibly a descendant of the Mayrin line (via either Seladon II or Brea).

While I do believe it is possible that Kylan is Jen's father thanks to the flute, and Deet is Kira's mother through her connection with nature and the Poddlings. But I'm not too sure about the other parents though.

I think Kira looks more like Seladon, I think Seladon is Kira's mother. Yes, it is Brea and Kira running in the vision but Brea wouldn't be Kira's mother. I have a feeling theres going to be a twist, but I maybe wrong.

Important to factor in that Seladon II as the eldest heir to the Vapran throne and as the All-Maudra would be expected to produce a successor as part of her duty of leadership.

Jen definitely looks like a Stonewood and Spriton hybrid, so I think it is very likely he is related to Kylan in some way. Kira looks mostly like a Vapra, but she seems to have some attributes of Stonewood as well in my opinion (the faint blue streaks in her hair).

however it appears that Jen is from a stonewood clan which could mean his parents are Rian and Deet. Also in the movie when Jen and Kira dreamfasted it shows Brea hiding Kira inside the tree.... Kira also mentions that she was hidden inside the tree by her mother... so my thought is that Brea and Kylan are Kiras parents.

@@Andile1able By this point I feel as though it could go both ways. Kylan is half stonewood, so Jen looking like a stonewood or associating with the stonewood clan isn't too farfetched either. There's also the fact that Kira could have probably thought the gelfling who hid her was her mother but she was still a baby, that could be misconstrued... unless a baby gelfling's memory and recognition is just that good.

Interesting! As I'm watching the show for third time, I've been wondering if they've been setting up Kylan and Brea to end up together (especially since Kylan is mentioned as having an important role though what exactly has not been determined yet). Not sure if I fully buy them being Jen's parents, but you've convinced me that Rian and Deet are Kira's parents (ever since I finished the show for the first time, I've been convinced that Deet is Kira's mother). As for Brea hiding Kira, it doesn't necessarily mean that she is her mother. Kira was a small child, and early memories are not very clear, so she would be naturally think that whoever hid her was her mother. I do like the theory mentioned in other comments that Kira was going originally to be delivered to the Podlings but had to be hid by Brea instead.

The ears and the muzzles of the different clans are distinctive in the age of resistance show but I doubt looking at characters in the movie will give us clear indication of which gelfing comes from where. The girl gelfling in the movie has very different wings than those we see in the series. And we can ignore the flocking, which was a design choice from 40 years ago.

I looked at Jen’s facial features and noticed that it looks like he has Gurjin’s nose but his ears look like Kylan’s his compassion reflects Rey’kera’s so it’s very hard to tell who is the father and I noticed that when we first see Jen he is by a pond which could indicate Dreachen, and he has the same color but his ears and his flute definitely says Kylan. Kira has Deet’s large eyes in touch with the animals of Thra even being able to call a land strider and she was raised by the poddlings which of course a reflection of Deet’s friendship with Hup, but she also has the ears and color of Kylan her nose however does look just like Rian and she is just as brave the way she speaks and handles herself seems to also reflect Rian and I even see small reflections of Ordon in her as well because if Rian is her father it means that Ordon is her grandfather which is very cool

When Jen played his flute to see which was the real shard it turned purple this could mean that Deet is his mother if she was infected with the darkening.

And cartoons cost a lot of money. I'm still POed the Mighty Orbots didn't get a second season but I hardly expect it to get a reboot and I doubt very much it would look or sound the same.

I like your theory. With what we have seen so far, I came to similar conclusions about Kira and Jen's parents. I'm still wondering though if a different Gelfling guy than Kylan will appear in Brea's life that we haven't met yet. It will be interesting to see what new clues they give us, if we are lucky enough to get a second season!

Ahhh just seeing all these comments makes me so happy as I realize I am not the only one who loves The Dark Crystal and The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance! Also... great video! I just recently started researching all the little hints throughout the show that lead to Jen and Kira. I love this new perspective! I totally see all the similarities and characteristics, and I totally ship Kylan and Brea! Also yessss I love the connection of music and the firca (with Kylan and Jen)! Also, I read a comment below about Jen possibly being a mix of Drenchen... that could be possible as I love the connection between Kylan and Naia in J.M. Lee's books! Lots of great ideas that make me want to dive even deeper into the world of Thra!

This is just a theory, but if you all noticed there were a lot of hints for Brea and Kylan in the series or was that just me. and what if Deet got reincarnated in Kira, maybe Brea and Kylan are really Jen's parents and they adopted Kira, got separated, like what's shown in the movie. that could explain why Jen was alone and Kira was being carried away by her mother like was shown when they were dreamfasting and Kira's real parents could just be some random vapran gelfling couple or they could be the farmer with the pendant in episode 01

YES! I forgot about Kira's bravery. That is definitely a "Deet trait." I lost count of how many times Deet --- without thinking --- saved someone's life by jumping in front of them to take on whatever danger was facing them with no thought to her own life. Kira jumps off the cliff with Jen, she stands between him and the Chamberlain in that place of ruins in the forest when the Chamberlain is trying to convince Jen to come back with him to the castle even though he could've had done God-knows-what to Kira while she had her back turned towards him. AND she throws the shard to Jen in the end of the movie, knowing it was going to mean certain death for her. That is ALL Deet & Rian. Deet saved Rian more than he did her, but he still stuck his neck our for her and rescued her a few time in season 1 when the nurlocs were attacking her and Bobbin', and when he carried her out of the Caves of Grot to the surface when she passed out after absorbing the Darkening from the nurlocs.

I'm still confused because towards the end of the season, Deet sees a mother running through the woods with her baby, and the original movie shows Kira's mom running with her and putting her into a tree. But in Age of Resistance, Kira's mother looks just like Brea when you look back at her vision! I personally think Kira's parents just might be Kylan and Brea. Or maybe in season two we will get new characters that will change our minds!

To be fair, Brea is also courageous and goes off on her own adventure, like Rian. I thought the lore of Thra stated all Gelfling has a deep connection to Thra and nature? And Deet wouldn't have been looking through Kira's eyes with Jen healing the crystal. Kira was already dead at that point and we see in the movie that her eyes were closed. Someone below me commented on the fact the crystal shard reacted to Jen when he played the firca. If Deet were his mother, this would make sense because maybe part of the Darkening transferred to Jen and as a result gave him this hidden power to find the shard?

And true, Kira was dead at that point, but what i meant was she was seeing things from Kira's position on the floor, looking up at Jen/Rian on the crystal. There are several scenes in Age Of Resistance with Seladon that shot-for-shot directly parallel scenes with Kira in the original film, such as sitting on the throne and being surrounded by Skeks. The series seems strongly to imply that Kira is at least partially Vapran and royal, possibly a descendant of the Mayrin line via either Seladon II or Brea (though of course, the father of the Vapran princesses was a Sifan who looked like he came originally from the Spriton, so...). Important to factor in that Seladon II as the eldest heir to the Vapran throne and as the All-Maudra would be expected to produce a successor as part of her duty of leadership.

Although I feel like this is definitely a possibility I think it could also be possible that kira is Brea and Deet's child. There was never any indication that they have to have different sex parents. Deet has two fathers and it was never stated that she was adopted or taken in like Jen. I feel like Kira really has common qualities of both Deet and Brea. Connections to both of them would include; living with podlings, connection to animals and thra, bravery, knowing about thra's and gelfling history ( and when she sits on the throne), not to mention she looks similar to both of them. Then when looking at Jen maybe his parents are Kylan and Naia; that way there is more of the stonewood genes present in Jen? Or its completely possible that they are just descendant of them and its been a couple thrine since all the heroes had already passed. That could also explain the ruins being as old as they look. ( that could have been from the era of the resistance and then falling to ruin once the Skeksis attack. )

A tidbit from the book series by J.M Lee I don't see anyone mentioning: it is said that the grottans actually split off from the vaprans a long time ago back when the gelflings became the seven clans, and so it's really not totally impossible for Kira to be Deet's child and have more vapra-like qualities. As for Jen's firca, personality, and appearance, I think it's almost 90% on point that he could be Kylan's son, and a dead give away to me is the fact that when Jen plays his firca, one of the crystal shards glows and resonates. In Song of the Dark Crystal, Kylan crafts a magical firca from the bone of a bell-bird that does the same thing. Not all fircas can do this and it's likely not a thing Jen can do without his firca - the power is not really coming from him, rather from the instrument itself like in the events of Song of the Dark Crystal. I honestly cannot see Kylan giving a personal item like that he has a deep connection with so easily if not to his own son. Not to mention they both have very wise and quiet personalities. Moreover, Kylan is half stonewood, but he appears more Spriton than Stonewood and so associates with the Spriton more readily. It wouldn't surprise me that if Jen learned toward Kylan's stonewood heritage more that he would identify with the Stonewood clan more readily. As to who the mother is my heart says Brea based on the little hints of interest that we see in the show in season 1, so I'm in full agreement with your theory. I guess only time will tell where those hints will lead us or if any of our theories bear fruit ;)

Food for thought: .,.... Do genetics even work the same on planet of thra? For example on Earth for humans, the gender of a person is decided by only the male sperm... So on Thra there could be other traits or things decided by only the male female sperm or egg. .... For humans; two blue eyed parents cannot have a brown eyed child and two brown eyed parents usually won't have a blue eyed child unless they both carried a recessive Gene along with the dominant one and even then the chances would only be 25 percent.... just wondering because in the original film Kira has blonde hair... In Earth blonde hair is a submissive trait not a dominant one.. so she would have a good chance of having two blonde parents although it's not impossible for a blonde haired person to have one parent be blonde the other brown... It's funny because we haven't been given ANY examples of two parents and their offspring in the series and we probably never will! We only see Brea's mother (all her daughters look like her but we have no idea what their father looks or looked like). We've seen Rian's father, but no mother. And while we've seen Deet's two fathers, we don't know if she's adopted, biologically related to one of them, or if Gelfling can homosexually reproduce and she's related to both. I guess we'll never know!

We did see a woman who looked a lot like Brea running with who we think is Kira, before putting her in a tree. This could make Brea the mother of Kira in both visions but there's also a chance that Brea could have been given Kira by either Rian or Deet before they died, and told to get her to safety. I can see "Aunt Brea" trying to save her niece after watching her best friends die. I really really need a second season now.

I wouldn't call Jen "wise" - in fact, he has a bit of a temper! Also, the firca that Kylan is playing is not the same as Jen's firca. We know that a Mystic found him as a baby, after his parents had already been killed - so that rules out Kylan gifting it to him. And the Mystic's not going to say, "Hold on while I grab this firca" when he rescued him. Most likely it was made for him by one of the Mystics, who knew that Gelfling played them. And I read somewhere that all Gelfling males were musical and they were pretty much in charge of the music and ceremonies.

Honestly going by basic biology, I agree with Jen being a Spriton/Vapran. My only Irk with all of these is that most are overlooking the Ears. All the prequel Gelfling have mid level ears like sheep or certain breeds of Goats. Gen and Kira have more erect ears like horses or ponies. The fact that the Gartham wars last a long time says to me that Jen and Kira are descendants of these crossbreedings, not direct offspring.

I saw your new theory about how Deet might not be born of an actual gelfling and that got me thinking what if Kira is not either what if she's more like a clone almost deet couldn't get rid of the darkening so instead she did something similar to the urskeks and kind of purged her pure innocence side and Brea adopted the child because even when we see that vision of what looks to be an older Brea running with a baby and through the dreamfasting in the first movie Kira calling the woman her mother she might be mistaken because apparently she doesn't know her true name and only goes by what the podling named her and to be honest this is not uncommon in a lot of stories and the most iconic and famous examples I can think of in pop culture would probably be Piccolo and his Origins from Dragon Ball Z and Steven from Steven Universe and how he was brought into existence they're both a little different but if you mash them together it kind of works in this scenario if the theory holds true about Deets origin

About Deet and Rian being Kiras parents, I would rather say that it’s Naia and Amri a grotan gelfling from the age of resistance book series. In the book series it’s obvious that they are in love and Naia has a really strong connection to Thra she even dreamfasts whit animals and plants and she is also really brave she was not afraid to risk her life to save Amri’s and Kiras white hair would come from Amri. Also Kira can’t use her wings to fly only to glide that is because they are a mix of drenchen and Grotan wings. Drenchen can’t use there wings to fly when they are fully grown out because they are meant to be fins

This is so fascinating to me. Will second season take place years In The future? How long would it take a gelfling to carry a child? All these characters seem rather young and childlike as well. We haven’t really even delved into a relationship between gelflings and mystics yet. How did they stumble upon jen? Was he delivered to them by Kyran, and he’s really not the father? Augrah is reborn after her essence passes through the hunter. I’d like to think after jen and Kira’s victory, the gelfling are reborn or reappear. After all they brought Kira back to life. I agree with Jen's father here. He has the Spriton tan skin, so it has to be in there somewhere. But, like you said, he isn't brave. He tries to quit the quest close to 3 times. I imagine Brea's kid would have more spunk. Kira, however...She does act Grotten, but she looks more Vapra. But she does remind me a LOT of Deet, mostly her bravery and willingness to just go and help, regardless of the consequences to her. And let's not forget who raised them. The Podlings aren't shown to be brilliant, but they are a down-to-earth folk who, if I remember right, taught Kira how to speak to the animals. Same with Jen. He was raised by the Mystics, who are musical, peaceful, scholarly monks. He could have learned all of those things from them. Or inherited them from Kylin, like the flute. With Kylin as his father, either way could work, honestly. But...Does the timeline work out? Would Kira and Jen be the next generation after the war, or two down the line?

There's still a lot that needs to happen before the events of the Dark Crystal take place. A hundred (at least) Gartham soldiers need to be made, the land around the Crystal tower needs to die and all the remaining Gelfing need to be hunted down or be in hiding. I think there's still a possibility that no one currently in the show is the parent of either of them. I have a strong suspicion that at least one of the two will be an orphan twice, being found as a baby in the aftermath of a Gartham raid only to lose there foster parents later.

Kylan didn't even cross my mind cuz I didn't catch his name for the short time he was on screen. But he does seem like the most apt candidate --- especially given his temperament and the fact you pointed out he and Jen both play the pipes. Also, the blond pieces in Jen's hair I never noticed. I don't know if they'll have a second season, but they sure did throw us off from Kylan's scent in terms of him being a possibly "Baby Daddy" cuz both female lead protagonist were interested in Rian romantically and weren't paying any of the other male leads any mind. WELL . . . except for that one Dousan male gelfling who briefly flirted with Brea & she in kind flirted back. But, unless he comes back in the second ((if there is one) season, that's an x-nay on that theory. And something else you mentioned that has me convinced Deet is Kira's mother --- aside from the obvious connection to Nature they both have --- you said Kira was braver than Jen; which is true. She was ready to go on Jen's quest with him without even being asked. In fact, she just volunteered herself, and Jen had no choice but to acquiesce, LOL. Same thing with Deet. She didn't question or try to get out of the quest the Sanctuary Tree asked her to make. She also just invited herself to help Rian --- even when he was being stand-offish when they first met. She just jumps in situations in spite of the consequences and trust everything will work out in the end. ALSO, Deet sacrificed herself for not only her immediate friends she made on her quest, but for ALL of gelfling-kind during the battle with the Skesis. In the original Dark Crystal, Kira sacrificed herself without hesitation and threw Jen the crystal shard so he could heal the crystal, although she more than likely knew it was going to cost her her life --- which it did --- when that one Skesis stabbed her in the back. So, character-wise, she is just like Deet. Though, I can't really think of any qualities of Rian she has --- personality-wise OR physically. Rian got brave at the end of the series, but wasn't exceptionally brave til then. Also, though she SLIGHTLY has Deet's eyes, she does not have her green skin, --- nor does she have Rian's tan skin. Yes, she has blonde hair like Deet --- but Grottan AND Vapran clans had blonde hair mostly --- so that's not a tell-tale physical trait. In fact, Kira looks totally Vapran. Maybe because Deet is green and Rian is tan, her complexion is some happy median point that made her come out looking Vapran --- even if she is not. And then there's always that possible wildcard that some children don't look anything like either of their parents, or they inherit traits from their grandparents or great grandparents that haven't manifested in the family genealogy for several generations. But then there's still one wrench in the gears . . . from what I remember from the movie (I watch it several times a year, but haven't seen it in almost 8mos, since I just watch the series ) didn't at least hundreds of years pass since the gelfling were wiped out and Jen and Kira went on their quest?? So depending on how much time has passed since the events of whatever is going to be the last episode of the last season of the prequel series ---- it might be possible that Deet, Rian, Brea, and another male gelfling we haven't pinpointed yet might be the grandparents, or great-grandparents, or great-great grandparents of Jen and Kira. Buuuuut, I doubt it cuz at the end of this season the Garthim were created, and I'm sure it is going to take them no time to decimate the Gelfling population. And if Brea, Rian, Deet, and an as-of-yet unnamed male gelfling R indeed Kira and Jen's direct parents, then too many years haven't passed since the events of the Gelfling decimation and the Healing of the Crystal because from what I read on Dark Crystal's Wiki page, Gelfling live about as long as humans do, so it's not like Jen & Kira are 200 years old at the time we first meet them --- which would be like being teenagers or young adults for beings whose average lifespan was a millenium or something. IDK. I'll have to re-watch the movie to get a handle onthe time-frame. What's even more puzzling than anything I mentioned above is the why didn't Netflix order a second season BEFORE this 1 was even aired?? How are you gonna leave Season 1 that open-ended if you didn't have approval for a second season to wrap things up?? I've seen lesser quality shows get approved for subsequent season before the first one even AIRED. And they already knew the DC had a cult following since my entire LIFE, so it's not like they thought it was gonna be a flop. And as long as it takes to do a show like this with all of the puppeteering, elaborate sets, CGI, and voicework, they should have been working on the 2nd season before the 1st one even aired so that way the fans wouldn't have to wait more than 6months between seasons. Now with everything shut down cuz of this Co-vid 19 quarantine --- everything in Hollywood is shut down, and by the time they air a second season ---- it'll probably be two years or more removed from the first season!! And who can wait that long??!! Not me!!

You know, Deet’s younger brother, Bobb’n, looks extremely similar to Kira: the eyes, the hair and especially the EARS. Maybe Bobb’n grows up to be Kira’s father. Unless I’m mistaken, Age of Resistance takes place 50 years prior to the events of the 1982 movie, so Bobb’n would be somewhere in his thirties or forties to father Kira if she is a teenager or in twenties when we see her in the movie (albeit her and Jen’s ages are unconfirmed but we can ballpark them being on the late teens to twenties range). However, Bobb’n being Kira’s uncle gives more credence to the theory of Deet and Rian being her parents.

I still think Rian is Jen's father. If you look at Jen's clothing in the movie, he's wearing the Stonewood symbol. Although Kylan is half Stonewood, he identifies primarily with the Spriton, and Brea is Vapran. I think at least one of Jen's parents would have to be fully identified with the Stonewood if Jen is wearing their symbol, otherwise I think he'd be wearing the Vapra or Spriton symbol. Also, Kira wears the Vapra symbol with the three leaves (like the necklace the farmer's wife has in episode 1), and neither Deet or Rian are Vapran, so why would she be wearing their symbol?

You made a good case for the possiblity that Kylon may be Jen's father. I considered those theories too. Though I do think Rian looks an awful lot like Jen too. Deet's vision looks awfully similar to Kiera's. I think Brea is very likely to be the female Gelfling carrying the baby. It looks more-likely that Brea is Kiera's mother, but there is a possibility that this could be a red herring and she's actually carrying Jen, or she's just taking the child to safety for the sake of the parents. Still, the possibility that Brea could be the mother to either Jen or Kiera is possible. If she *is* the mother to one of them, I wonder if Rek'yr could be the father to her child, if the ship tease between these two becomes canon. I'm kind of hoping that Rian and Deet do become a couple and possibly are the parents of either Jen or Kiera (you made some good arguments to the possibility that Kiera could be their child). Though I wonder how likely it is due to Deet's contamination by the Darkening.

If Kira is Rian's daughter, maybe he named her in honour of Mira. Their names are so similar and Mira was the first gelfling killed by the skeksis, she was a catalyst of sorts, which ultimately led him to meeting her mother deet. If those two actually are her parents that is.

In one of the last episodes of AOR, Rian was seen looking through Brea's journal and there was a close up of a drawing she had done of two gelflin. One looked like herself and the other looked like Rian. But what if it was Kylan and she has a secret crush on him? He was the nicest and most sympathetic towards her after her mother was murdered. Just saying...

If you ask me i have a few theories that Brea is Kira's mom and think it's quite plausible that Rian could be Kira's father if we look at things situationally... I wouldn't bet my hand on it because Deet and Rian are practically in love with each other, however, it's also implied that Brea has some kind of affection for Rian. The other theory I have is that Deet and Rian are Kira's parents. And the Gelfling seen carrying their child to safety is Brea. In this theory I feel like like the Garthims ransacked the Gelfling villages, but Deet and Rian were top priority targets for the Skeksis due to the events of the rebellion and their first battle (especially Deet), so they are either captured or killed, leaving behind their infant, which is then found Brea while she's trying to escape the chaos. Again I wouldn't bet my hand on it, but I see Kira definitely as Stonewood in both scenarios but it's 50/50 whether she's Vapra or Grotten. Also in both scenarios, Brea seen hiding a baby, but it wasn't fully confirmed it was hers or not As far as Jen's parents, I think you hit the money saying he's Spriton and that Kylan is potentially Jen's father. That being said I think Jen is also part of the more spiritual clan like Sifa, Vapra or Dousen.

What about how the tree transferred it’s power to Deet? Could she have transferred some sort of power to Kira, but not her entire abilities because they ran out of time or where discovered which made Brea act fast and run away with her? Possibly because Kira is her daughter and it was an instinct to protect her? I believe Kira is Brea’s daughter or Seledon’s daughter, she looks strikingly Vapran. But I also believe there’s a lot of evidence that suggests the Gielfling began to develop interracial relationships once they began to unite, so Kira’s father must be another race of Gielfling. I believe Reky’r also has the ability to speak/understand animals, as it was shown when he was with Bennu when he met the gang and when he was with the Hunter, he understood her. To me, it really seems plausible it could be Brea and Reky’r or maybe Kylan but with Seledon.

It doesn't really add up because there's a huge difference between Deets vision, in that you can see Brea running with baby Kira in her arms. Not to mention Kira does act quite similar to Kylan as well as Rhian, just basically the two protagonists both have identical personality traits; both are brave, kind, and wise beings so just in truth it's very hard to pick out the differences at times. Though the thing with Deet is interesting because we unfortunately are left with a cliffhanger so it's not really clear if Rhian chased after her, (though it is rather obvious that he would because that's the type of gelfling he was.) so it seems a little far off in a way. I won't say that none of what you're saying doesn't make any sense because it does, this is really interesting to put together seeing as people would normally swap the parents for the two characters; Kira had Kylan and Brea and Jen had Rhian and Deet.

Could it be that by the time jen and kira are born, the clans have blended into being mixed and not set to two clan origins
