I think for the sake of actually seeing more of the Dark Crystal stories, I would be fine if they were to move towards full cg animation. 3D animation is simply much cheaper and quicker, so of course studios would lean that way. But with effective and authentic art direction, it could be done very well. I partially liked the little elements of cg they used in the Netflix series to enhance the puppets, it was done very well and looked amazing. It just needs to be done right.

I've been reading the Dark Crystal Adventure Game: Could someone explain to me the "tap-code" they use? Is this in the Age of Resistance show? Is it mentioned in Lee's books? I am wondering if that was inspired by the "Smitty Harris Tap Code" used in the Vietnam War years ago.

I feel that it helps keep the fandom alive. It’s so sad how few people even know what The Dark Crystal is. I love it and talk about quite often, and maybe 25 percent of the people I talk to have heard of it before I mentioned it. Can we talk about the tribute video the company posted a few days ago and not call back to the dark crystal? I mean we got Kermit, that Fraggle guy (didn’t watch that show) and Oscar from Sesame Street but no gelfling or skeksis? Tsk tsk

The only reason that deet could shoot the darkening is bc of the sanctuary trees magic

Hot take: The more I think about it, the more I think Age of Resistance should’ve been animated. Don’t get me wrong, the puppetry in the show was amazing and it’s what I’d prefer, but from a financial standpoint, I think it would’ve been a lot less intimidating for Netflix to fund the series if it had a more modest budget. Plus the chances of such an incredible story being left on a cliffhanger would probably be a lot lower in the best case scenario. Never zero, but definitely lower. If they make another feature film, though, they absolutely have to stick to the puppetry seeing as that’s a huge portion of Dark Crystal’s essence (see what I did there?). So it could be like pre-Disney Star Wars, where the films are live action (with some cgi naturally) and the shows are animated.

UrAmaj(cook) is one of my favorite Mystics, or foodies in fiction along with. Cookie=Shrek 4, the cynical side of food catering. Upchuck=Ben 10, ate basically a star and ballooned up to barf it at a Knight into oblivion. If eating was a superpower. Tonio/Pearl Jam=Jojo Bizarre Adventure P4, his foods can cure ailments and he can tell alot about a person from their habits/appearances.

In the short-term, they would wipe the floor with the Skeksis, but in the long-term, Thra would suffer and possibly die even faster than it would have with the Skeksis still around.

That could actually be cannon to how all gelfling died they might’ve all got infected and the ones who didn’t got killed by the skeisys

I like the concept of turning them into ghoul gelfling that must hide and to stop the spread of the darkening. But them residing deep within Thra to consume more of the darkening further deranging them.

Woo! Name dropped! I think at some point, with every clan infected, Augrah would seek out whatever remaining Uru and Skeksis there would be in hiding. After all, The Skeksis were cowardly at their core and feared power they couldn't control. And above all they're consummate survivors, using any trick or skill. I think Augrah would be forced to be a bridge of sorts between the two halves, and the creatures of Thra. The Darkening is a sickness, an illness, so the Uru and Augrah would be tasked to cure it. As we saw with Deet, the Darkening corrupts Gelflings at a different rate than the other lifeforms on Thra; I think a new Resistance, refusing to use the Darkening, would form, seeking a cure even as the other clans eradicated each other. While it could easily spread, and subterfuge would absolutely take place on either side, I choose to have hope that Thra herself could pull through, and maybe even do a hard reset on life. After a few thousand trine, maybe start over again.. But the Darkening would still touch the land. The new creatures born would have to be a balance of light and dark, and it would be curious to see what new life would grow from a forced balance like that.

Happy to see you still make videos and getting coments. It would be cool if we do not get a season 2 but an entire new series, in the garthim wars line. New characters, locations... I imagine Deet causing the destruction we see in the movie at the end. That the great cracks we see around the castle were made to bring in electricity from the planet to reinforce the crystal, and the bridge destroyed by the rebelion ultimately gave the bad guys more time to retaliate... Keep the fire alive dude ✌

Here's a lore qestion that's been bugging me for a while now: what the heck happened with the Gruenaks? AOR establishes that the Skeksis "eradicated" them, then the Bestiary book explains they had advanced technology, which has been lost to time. My question is, why did the Skeksis destroy them, and how? Did they use Gelfling as soldiers? If yes, then that would mean that the Gelfling were instruments of genocide... P.S.: On a side note, the Gruenaks in my head canon are cousins of the Podlings, in the same way Neanderthals were to us. They're both potato-like bipeds with three fingers, unlike the Gelfling's four.

That could've been something we found out in season 2 but no Netflix had to cancel the show.

I hope one day we either get a second season or at least a comic

The utter massacre of the Cystal Palace Guard shows that even in their schrivelled, old, reumatic state Skeksis are already monsters in combat now imagine them young, proud and not needing at least 200 trine of Cardio to get back in shape.

Cancelled because they CAN'T spin this classic with their ideologies because of it's BASIC PREMISE & it's title. A planet(Thra) where all the creatures are ruled & literally FED-UPON by a small minority of EVIL-ELITES. This series is about REBELLION. There is NO WAY for corporate hack-writers to make the Skeksis the good guys & the Gelfling the bad guys. So they just canceled it.
