At the begining he said "fuelled by couscous", I smiled a bit. I'm from the Northeast of Brazil, and couscous is an essential food here, but the main differences, I believe, is that ours is made with cornmeal and we write it "cuscuz". Also the portuguese were the ones who brought it from North Africa to Brazil. We've been eating couscous for a few centuries and it became a staple food in my region, since it's a cheap, tasty and filling meal for people living on the countryside to get through the hardships of the day, specially considering that we also live on a region with an arid climate. @@HashmiSan You clearly know nothing about Amazigh history. Phoenicians only settled heavily in Carthage Tunisia, establishing the Punic civilization there, there's probably a mixture of Phoenician and Berbes in what's is now Tunisia, but they did not have that much direct presence in other parts of the Maghreb and Libya. Modern Berbers are still similar to Copper Age and Bronze Age Berbers, obviously with some differences acquired later due to relatively minor admixture with African and Eurasian migrants, but they are in no way Phoenicians descendents.

As an Amazigh from the Tuareg people (Kel Tamsheq) who hold the nationality of Mali, I can say the Tuareg in north Mali were able to maintain their language and culture as they were for thousands of years. The reason behind this is the weakness of the Malian state in the north of the country, so the Tuareg have continued to live on their own economically, culturally and in other aspects of life.

@@cuzimmoody6470 That is because they are Arabized and not Arabs, idk about Morocco and other regions but in Algeria the French worked hard to erase the Algerian identity to cease the resistance, so to make the local believe that Algeria is part of France they banned Arabic from schools along with Tamazight, they banned Islamic teachings and such while instilling the French language and values,... In order to restore the Algerian values and identity, scholars worked hard in teaching Islam, other sciences and Arabic again to the new generation to lead resistance against the French, and that what happen, after the independence unfortunately France already instilled their pawns before leaving, and those who lead the revolution became in the open and one by one they were killed, and after few presidents Boumedien came into power in illegal way, the Amazigh speaking people stood against him but soon he shut them out by making fake concerns and working on separating the Algerians into "Arabs" and Amazigh by creating non-existent racism, and treating Amazigh speaking people as a minority and not real Algerians, he made a lot of major changes whether they are good or bad but he created modern Algeria with all of its corruption, till this day some consider him a hero, and others consider him a traitor,..... in short whether an Algerian speaks Arabic or Amazigh as a first language and whether they consider themselves Arab or not they all share the same DNA of at least 80-90% Amazigh, Native North African.

@itheri06755 жыл бұрын
@Junaid Islam The dominating viewpoint among Amazigh militants is the one of a secular society which tolerates all faiths as well as their absence. However, it does not require too much efforts to realize that Arabism and Islamism are both sides of a same coin. This means that one cannot eradicate the Arabian virus without eradicating the Islamic one. By the way, the Arabian language was invented at the same time as the Quran. The word "Quran" was derived from the word "Syrian", and the language of the Quran is a mixture between Syriac, Aramaic and Hebrew languages, thus giving rise to what shall be called later the (classical) Arabic language.

From Tunisia Greetings to all my Amazigh brother, in my profile pic is my mother carying me as a baby in her amazigh clothes back in 90s
Thank you so much for sharing our culture and history with the world ! Indeed, it's very interesting and fascinating. Much love from an Amazigh person :)

you excluded the amazigh in Tunisia which still exists and use amazigh words and language. every tunisian grandma has amazigh tattoos on her face

Not true, I’m from the coast of Tunisia none of my grandma has tatoos , I made ancestry test it didn’t have Berber so it’s a minority for sure, I don’t even have Arab in my DNA so...blame it on Tunisia location especially since I’m from the Coast But yes in Tunisian language we have Berber words no argue on that

H. C. Based on DNA, not really because Phoenicians even though they settled some colony along the mediterranean or even established carthage, genetically they didn’t integrate or settle down around there this is based on genetic research for a pool of people on Tunisia. Besides Levabts have an aryan featured tunisians not really you can still tell it’s west mediterranean

After watching this video I feel like the story of the Amazigh has a lot of similarities to the story of the Kurds... they have both suffered a lot and have mostly shared the same fate and are still thriving

I was completely ignorant to Amazigh culture before this video. Thank you, I've learned so much! It's sad to see further examples of imperialism and empire destroying native culture and language, but I'm encouraged to see lots of Amazigh people in the comments clearly passionate about maintaining their history and identity. Much love from Scotland

The last thing you have to worry about is us neglecting our tongue or culture because maybe not too much representation in social media but in real life the culture survived we still speak our language, we wear our own traditional clothes we have our own music and musical instruments our own jewelry we know The amazigh alphabet we have out own traditional food and also well organized dances and more and more we I'm really surprised by us after these thousands of years we still have the amazigh identity
