Thank you so much for your lovely comment, Sandra. This intro was made way way backin January 2018 when we were using the free Windows Video Editor software, and had no idea about B-roll or interesting backgrounds etc. We're so happy that it seems to have stood the test of time... unlike my hair, which is now shorter than ever 😁🌞 ~ Mandy

Nice to see both of you together, its usually one of you behind the camera in your vlogs. I've been travelling for a couple of decades too and I find it interesting to go back to places and see how they have changed. I"m 70 countries but thats because I revisit so many places, no rush to get to 100. Thanks for sharing your stories.
@FrugalTravellers4 жыл бұрын
Thank you. It was quite fun to make that video together. True that we are rarely together on camera. We don't really like to count countries because travel shouldn't be about ticking off places. We agree It's way better to move slowly and get to know people and places better. But people always ask so we have added them up. Keep having great adventures out there!!

Fantastic! Do you consider yourselves a part of the "FIRE" community before FIRE became cool? That's how we live as well. I am 37 and hope to leave work in the next year or two
@FrugalTravellers3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! We only learnt of the FIRE acronym a few months ago, from a comment on one of our Insta posts, and thanks to our innately frugal natures we've found ourselves part of that group without knowing it😁😀 We're travellers who have only been making vlogs for a few years. We started with a blog in 2018 but felt it was too much like writing into a void as there wasn't much feedback from readers. We started making videos instead, struggling along with our Motorola G4 Plus and Oppo AX5 😂 We want to show people how easy it is to get out there and travel independently on a budget, and explore more of this beautiful planet, whether it be new countries or new places in your home town. Thank you again for showing such an interest in our story and channel - comments like these inspire us to keep making videos rather than just relax in front of Netflix 😁🙏

@FrugalTravellers Жыл бұрын
Thank you, Julie. It's so cool that you're going through our playlist and rewatching some of our videos 😀😁 This might sound terrible but we can't actually remember our 100th countries 🤣😀 We have a list written somewhere... but I can't remember where I've saved it or even where we mentioned it on social media 😀😁 Lee has now been to 113 countries, and I've been to 103, I think 😉 He travelled around South America before we met, and he also went to Zambia on our 40- week truck trip around Africa. The only country I've been to that he hasn't is the Philippines... but we both want to go soon! ~ Mandy 😀🌞

That's so lovely of you - thank you! We're fortunate in that always living a frugal lifestyle means we don't need to work now, as long as we continue to embrace frugal travel, that is 😁 No 2* hotels for us, instead it's a 12-bed dorm in a hostel or a private room in the cheapest Air BnB 😂 But we'll always post what we see and experience, and never polish things up - our tenets are Reality, not glamour; and Finding joy in simple things 😁

It is lovely to meet both of you on You Tube. I remember the days of travelling before Internet and mobile phones. I became keen to travel in my childhood and managed to visit Greece when I was 14 years old. I used to travel cheaply as a single person needing one plane seat. Now I have a 12 years old disabled son that is in a wheelchair and a 10 year old daughter. I am only able to travel in the school holidays. We are going to Florida and two Caribbean Islands in April. We will end our trip with a train journey from Fort Lauderdale to New York. From there will fly back home to England on Norwegian Air.
@FrugalTravellers4 жыл бұрын
Nice to meet you too Maxine. It's always good to hear from other keen travellers. Your April trip sounds incredible. The Caribbean Islands will be amazing. We'd love to explore more around there as we've only been to Cuba. A train ride up the east coast will be a real adventure too. We flew Norwegian air once and they were very good. Hope you and your family have a brilliant time!

@@FrugalTravellers I managed to visit St Lucia in the Caribbean when I was 19 years old. It will be so amazing to visit Antigua and Tobago in April. I like to travel on a budget as well. I love to walk around cities. I wish I could travel more.
@maxinechivers13124 жыл бұрын
@@FrugalTravellers Thanks, that is a lovely thing to say. My son's teacher when he was younger visited Cuba and she brought me back a postcard. I am keen to see more islands in the Caribbean. It is challenging to visit more that one or two islands. A cruise would be expensive. We went to a beautiful beach in Sri Lanka and all of a sudden it got too hot. Hopefully it won't be too hot in Antigua and Tobago. I wish you get to see lots more places and have really wonderful times.
@FrugalTravellers4 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much Maxine. We'd love to see more of the Caribbean as well. Cruises can be expensive. A friend recommended a really cheap bargain cruise search website to us that looks quite good although we've never booked one on it. Maybe one day we will. It's www.vacationstogo.com/ Maybe worth a look. 😊

Quiet impressed you've done 100 nations over 24 years. April 2020 will be 10 years since I went to live in New York and I'm now on 87 nations. Trying to get to 100 soon so I can focus on living in Norway after 2020
@FrugalTravellers4 жыл бұрын
Wow... You've certainly covered a fair chunk of the globe too. That's very impressive. We've actually made pretty slow progress as we like to try to get to know each country we visit and normally average around a month in each one. At this rate it's going to take at least another ten years to see the rest but we are in no hurry. I've heard of people in their 30's who have been to every country on earth. That kind of rapid travel is not for us at all. All the best for living in Norway. It is a beautiful country. 😊
