One day you cannot move anymore/be at nursing home, and you will not have anyone to visit you. Brothers and sisters have their own life and they don't care about you. People don't care about you at nursing home. You will be Alone. No one to bury you and the government will take your savings. As you have no dependents(kids).

Merry Christmas to you too, João, our favourite voice of positivity and joy! 😁🤣 It may come as a surprise to you, but not all children grow up and choose to look after their parents. We used to visit a grandparent in a nursing home, and it was so sad to talk to the other residents there whose adult children would never visit them. Assuming that a child will look after you in old age is a way of thinking from a different era, and is no longer a given. ~ Mandy

@@FrugalTravellers Happy Crispsmas. "We used to visit a grandparent in a nursing home, and it was so sad to talk to the other residents there whose adult children would never visit them." Its not true. They probably meant adult children were not visit them everyday.

@@FrugalTravellers ah man, it was really good. There were 46 seats and only 9 were occupied. The one thing I did notice (as a hindsight) being a world traveller and having quite a full passport already, it’s not always a great idea to travel overland! Within the last 3 weeks, I will have 10 stamps in my heavy passport! A first world problem but a consideration. Also (nothing to do with flixbus) but crossing land borders is pretty slow and cold when they make you wait outside the bus. Again, first world problem. All is good and I’m hoping you’re mega enjoying your travels and that Lee gets to speak to people in Portuguese after he’s spent so long learning the language. Safe travels. 🤙

Hi Mandy and Lee, Great film as always! Aw, thanks so much for your kind words and answers to my questions. Lee, hilarious, but I would never give up my small hot water bottle either! Even in my restricted carry on luggage. Can't bear being cold. I swear by Duct tape too. I am very excited about your upcoming packing film. Salomon and Merrill footwear are top of every present list for me. Mongolia is one of my favourite countries which surprised me. As it was part of a Trans Mongolian to North Korea trip we weren't there as long as I would like. We hired a driver who asked if he could stop to buy milk, we expected a shop, but of course not... this is Mongolia after all. Definitely hope to return and soon because I became aware that customs are changing fast. Why round up your herd with a horse when a motorbike will do? I travelled from Lahore to Islamabad up the Karakorum highway to the border with China in2019. Pakistani people are very welcoming and to see a contrast definitely go to Lahore first. The mountains of the north were spell bounding. I went to the glacier too. My friend says I suffer from " Fernweh " , which means far sickness in German. I am constantly wishing to explore new interesting places, so I think he is right. I met a 92 year old in a hostel once. He made supper from the left over food, entertained me with anecdotes then left saying "As long as I can move I will travel." I never forgot that brief encounter and endorsement. I'm hoping a temporary job will work out for me for the first few months of 2023 so I can travel/relax/write for the rest of the year.

Hello Julie, and thank you so much for another wonderful comment 🙏😀 We love hearing from you as we learn so much every time! Thank you also for asking such great questions. We're so pleased to be able to share information and experiences. It's so cool that you also carry a small hot water bottle! Lee's is purely for his back and/or aching muscles, and it's certainly worth carrying the extra weight! That's a great tip about duct tape! I tend to use sticking plaster/Bandaids for emergency repairs 😀 I love your Mongolia and Pakistan experiences, and meeting the 92-year old! He is truly an inspiration. Here's hoping the temporary job works out for you, and wishing you a wonderful travel-filled 2023! 😁😀 ~ Mandy

So great to get to know you both even more through these Q&As, you’re truly so inspirational and makes our hunger to travel even greater! Thank you for showing the spike ball and Solomons that you use, Pauli will be on the lookout for a new pair of 👟 😊. For Duolingo, I think it has Brazilian Portuguese, how well did that serve you in Portugal? Is it that much different than European Portuguese? Thanks so much, we wish you a very happy holidays and a fantastic new year, happy travels in 2023 ❤

Thanks so much, guys. Glad you enjoyed the video and feel like you know us a little better now. We love to share any tips or advice we think might be helpful to folks. 😊 Yes it's Brazilian Portuguese but I really don't think it matters too much. I never had a Portuguese person complain that I said a word differently. There are plenty of Brazilians in Portugal and the Portuguese are exposed to a lot of Brazilian influence on TV so they get it. We hope to be spending a fair bit of time in Brazil at some time during our travels too. 😊 Have a wonderful Christmas and New year and thanks so much for all of your support. 🙏😁🎄😍

Another great Q&A video. I learn so much from watching you both. Looking forward to the next one, then the next one, etc. 😅 I stared at your map for about 15-minutes. Incredible. Now I’m really jealous! 😉 BTW-when you do your packing video, can you mention what backpack you use? I think Lee has an Osprey. If that’s correct, can you identify which one please? There are so many models-it’s actually maddening to pick just one! Ahhh…. 🤯 Not sure what Manny now has. 🤔 Hope you have a wonderful Christmas, will have a fabulous New Year, safe travels and good health. 👍🏻

Thanks so much, lucchese20. We enjoy making these and getting to tell people our story who may not know our background. 😊 I'm passionate about maps too so get a thrill making them. 🤣🤣 The only gap in that overland journey is when we had to fly back to Australia from Tehran for a family wedding and then returned to the Caucasus to continue the journey and went down to the Azerbaijan - Iran border to start again. 😊 We love overland travel. It's an Osprey Farpoint 40. We both have the men's version. They are absolutely brilliant and are perfect for carry on luggage. Cheers for all of the wonderful comments and support over the last year. We thoroughly appreciate it. Have a great Christmas and New year 😍 L&M

Hi guys 👋 Just a thought, have ye ever considered getting sponsorship from big companies for your travels? I know some people don’t like to do it for various reasons but I think ye deserve the extra revenue 🥰 I wonder would it also help bump of the viewings?😁👌
@FrugalTravellers9 күн бұрын
@@michellel3348 Hi Michelle 👋🤗 That's a great question and I'll add it to the list for the next Q&A. The short answer is that I wouldn't want to have to make a video designed to big up a sponsor... our channel is ours to say what we want about a place or meal or anything really, and it would feel constricting to me to have to answer to someone else... do you know what I mean? This channel is all about sharing our independent budget travel experiences with others, and not about making us rich... which is lucky really as we'd be pretty poor by now 🤣🤣🤣 Thank you though for thinking of ideas for us... you writing a comment and watching our videos through in full is just so helpful as it encourages the algorithm to show our videos to new viewers, so we really appreciate your kindness and support 🙏🤗🥰
