Who are the Masterminds behind the Black Tusk? || Story / Speculation || The Division 2

Leading in from the last video, we know that the Black Tusk have invaded the Pentagon with two goals in mind.
Firstly, to loot anything they deem useful in their mission. And secondly, to extract the newly developed Perfusion Bioreactor - The device that could lead to the cure of the Dollar Flu.
But we didn’t have to venture particularly far into these missions to notice a few familiar pieces scattered around the labs.
Not only have we found that DARPA has been the brains behind a number of items in the SHD Tech arsenal, but they also seem to have been responsible in one way or another, for the high tech gear used, by the Black Tusk.

I would believe that DARPA is used to test more broad applications of the tech, and SHD would take the advances that can be refined into individual and squad size team deployments. Seeing as a small squads/individuals in various locations, agents need tech they can carry or store in plain sight.

My theory is this. Keener, (somehow) kidnaps Kandel, and we have to rescue her, killing Keener in the process. The reason I say this is cause episode 3 is supposed to "Close the first chapter of the Division storyline." I'm also holding out hope that during the episode we either run into, or work with our agent from the first game. I'm sure it'd be nearly impossible to pull off, but I can still hope.

The best plot idea is that keener is the antihero in terms that he could've discovered a massive conspiracy that caused him to go rogue. As far as the black tusks are concerned, it could be a powerful or very influential family or organization that was operating in the shadows and this as a random act could've been a right place and right time thing to send them in unless it was planned from the start.

Its indeed obvious this is an NWO story which shows a lot of resemblements with the real world. What I never hear in these kind of videos is besides individual motives of Division agents they are fighting a useless fight, cause they are fighting to preserve a system which from the get go was corrupt and controlled. My theory on why the shd can’t use black tusk equipment? A very powerful and complicated code system that can only be used by high ranking officials of the black tusk if the division agents tried hacking the system it would shut down making it impossible to track

One of my theory on this one is as follows through my thoughts. Gordon was hired by Tusk because of his political views from the NSA classified mission recordings. He was hired for them and decided to cripple America's most populated city. Soon after division agents were activated and try to take back the city. Keener may have discovered something major that could affect everyone so he went rogue and try to stop the endgame before it happened. He found out about Gordon work history and killed him. Now's hes back to either save his nation from the black tusk or leave it in ruin.

In the comic, the mastermind organization has been speculated to plan the entire thing for years. (Given that BT has been supplying various different factions across the entire East Coast with weaponry to keep the turmoil going for at least months) For step 6, I think the BSAV is not a cure-all to be distributed to everyone, but rather an insurance for the organization given the Keener situation and give the organization a big advantage in controlling the world. We know that the outbreak happened all around the world (even Russia), so the organization aim is far more outreaching than just instating themselves as the new government. With the BSAV, that will give them enough power to influence other nations' internal affairs and place their puppets in those governments (i.e. leaders of those nations), which would lead to your step 7 I agree that maybe Keener realized that the original failure in containing DZ was intentionally orchestrated by them and with the SHD agents slowly being picked apart by the Hunters. I believe that hunters are similar to BT and originally hired by the very same organization, who were later back-stab by the organization (This was supported by the BT describing their client as a guarantee back-stab, and hunters no longer actively hunt down division agents)

I really hope Aaron Keener doesn't die. It seems like he's one of the most intricate characters of The Division(even though we hardly know much about him and his true intentions). I just hope we join or atleast have an option to fight for Aaron Keener. That would make everything feel less forgettable/useless imo because it seems like it's only a matter of time before the division as a whole just collapses on itself due to how many Agents and operatives are either being killed or just going rogue/MIA. I always try to immerse myself in the games that i play, especially the ones that are closely based IRL.

A version of the war hound was in Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Future Soldier. It was deployed alongside the Ghost Team in the mission to the Kola Peninsula. It was if I remember right far less agile than the ones used currently by Black Tusk forces. The ECHO recordings and audio logs I found in game prior to reaching the first round of Invasion certainly implied they had well supplied backers with top of the line tech. The fact that some of their tech if not most of it bears similarities to SHD tech is not surprising to me. The LMB also displayed a level of technological superiority to the other factions in the Division 1. At the time I thought some of their edge came from their alliance with Keener’s group of rogue agents. What’s left of the LMB is likely to be seen as a recruitment pool for Black Tusk should the Division agents continue to hobble Black Tusk. Supposedly Black Tusk indirectly supplied the various factions of DC to preoccupy the Division there. It wouldn’t surprise me if they are doing the same in other major cities. The JTF and/or the Division would have to get the factions to realize they are being used by Black Tusk. Of course it’s going to be a challenging thing to do since they have become the enemy of their enemies. It’s an altogether bizarre landscape where people we thought were one thing but in reality something else entirely.

A think a good question to be asking is how the black tusk are gonna affect the future of the division since what we’ve seen is this the black tusk special unit and from warlords of New York we know a number of agents have joined them making them the biggest threat to us since keener.

Well it seems to me that the black tusk Benefactor(s) funded Darpa as well as the SHD. The audio log did mention they have their fingers in a lot of pies. Though judging by whats in the Darpa labs it looks like Darpa Only just discovered this stuf.But then that chucks up a wrinkle in this theory; What about the Hunters? And Aaro Keener seeks his own dominion of power as he actively killed SHD agents. They are using tech that FAR exceeds Shade Tech. They are more then a match for a Division agent. Also how can these people fund the Black Tusk? This is a lot for a goverment to fund. I mean that HUGE hovercraft most've cost a couple BILLION. How can you shift THAT amount of money and build something that big and keep it hidden? The mind boggles. This is why I love the Division. First Aaron Keener now the Black Tusk. Dr Kendell is the Lynchpin for all this as she is the one that made the BSAVs. Aaron Keener would seek to eliminate her as she knows Amhursts' work. Or to capture her so he has a bargining chip. If anything there's somethig big coming up and we need to be ready.

Which is also probably why we will either go rogue or dismantle DERPA from preventing them of taking control. tbh the two missions added are pretty lackluster and doesn't leave a lasting impression. I hope this is an indication that the devs are making tons of content for players when they get back to NY, and not working on Division 3. The only intriguing thing left in the lore for me is April Kelleher.

I enjoyed the missions, but they were just that....another couple of missions. The true value from this update was the balancing, which really won't be appreciated until more content and replayability is introduced. They'll get there, but I think it will be a few months before it really hits its stride...much like the timeline of TD1

@@goldenferrari7785 there had been a small team working on TD2 mere WEEKS after TD1 was out, so they are totally exploring their options. We got all the promises in the world with TD1 and what did we get? abandonment after the game was patched up to a presentable state. 1 big content release, fixes, and just when TD1 is ready both technical and balance-wise to blossom into something more, TD2 was announced. "And they wouldn’t just start working on a new game with an ip out for less than a year" um, that's exactly what they did; so there's no guarantee. TD2 is less broken than TD1 so perhaps it can be a foundation the devs build upon. As TD1 had fundamental flaws that can't be fixed.

Heres what I am thinking that your right theres a bigger game here. Sorry if its a bit long. Amerhest couldn't have gathered all those components and equipment to engineer the dollar flue alone. He would have been caught sneaking smallpox out of the lab as obviously your going to have that place locked down so a deadly disease wouldn't get out. Part of me thinks he had a bit of help, an anonymous source that was helping him out knowing what would happen. He was a pawn in a much large game of chess, same with The Division, Black Tusk, President Ellis, and so many others. One of the recordings between some black tusk says they've been pictured as the "Praetorian guard of a new dynasty" so I'm thinking this is a game of tearing down the old order for a new one with the Black Tusk playing a major role. The Division were meant to keep infrastructure and "society" working enough that it didn't outright die but was weakened and factions began to make plays. The Black Tusks were ordered to back off from the Division by a person who expected them to do their job. Obviously the Division would take out the major factions of DC, thus paving the way for Black Tusk who expected to steam roll them and this victory as Kelso pointed out would present them as liberators and with President Ellis gave them legitimacy to look like the "good guys" with the Division painted as a rogue agency that must be destroyed. The Anti-virals and the Reactor from the Pentagon would have sweeten negotiations or forced people to give in or not receive aid from the people who had a way to fight Green Poison. My guess is this benefactor would be a group much like the Enclave from the Fallout series. People who had alot of power, wealth, and ambition and had the resources to see this vision through. They could even be high ranking officials from other countries as we only know what is going on in the US, yet where have Black Tusk been hiding their forces to suddenly come out of nowhere. There could be other pawns and "pieces" in the game that we may or may not know of. Maybe in future updates and games the pieces and players will come into the light. (I actually wrote this as the video was being played and noticed you were thinking some of the same points Nice.)

Okay, so realistically, how many Agents were activated? There have to be more than enough to deploy across the entire US, right? And by this stage, 7 months into the outbreak, I reckon at least a hundred or so agent have been killed between the first and second waves... I feel like a realistic number would be within the 1-2 thousands range. Which then begs the question, just how big are they black tusk that they constantly outnumber not just the Division but the JTF combined.

During the mission you see a video feed of a Blacktusk leader talking , right before the video cuts he smashed the button to end the feed. The video is done in a way to show his right wrist. He seem to have a nice wrist watch which glows Orange. Why was this not mentioned.

Yeah that was one of the original recordings that can be found. The BT command were suggesting that the Division be left alone so that they could deal with the other factions, rather than the BT having to do it.

The tough part with this theory, you could simplify the *whole* plot by just saying: The company that created SHD tech, also owns Black Tusk. There's no need for a DARPA secrets plot. The department mainly contracts out to private companies in the real world. There's no need for 'hackers,' because the company could have just shared higher-tier systems access to the villains. The 'Hunters' become easier to explain: they're retired military with severe PTSD. They joined Black Tusk, and were shipped off to Russia for lobotomy. The only part that would be extremely difficult to explain: if you're rich and powerful enough to own the player's equipment and fill the US Gov with your own people... why bother releasing a virus known for disfiguring people? It'll just make the coke and prostitutes you're already drowning in, more difficult to acquire.

Ubi should make Division 3 an MMO and the final game in a trilogy. Every agent of the world united and push back or erradicate the Black Tusk once and for all. Also, Ubi needs to expand on the Hunters lore much, much more.
