Tamil is the name of the Language given by Tamils, it was called 'Dravid' in Sanskrit and many other name in other languages. Tamils were called Pandiyan (Pandiya) or Keralan (Cheralam) in western countries. West world know Tamils for Millenia in different names. So donot search for word Tamil in western history you will not find.

Tamil and Malayalam are two different languages. Malayalam is a mixture of Tamil and Sanskrit. Malayalam got separated from Tamil before many centuries. 13:18 Malayalam is a form of classic Tamil with some sanskrit influence. Its more like a dialect of Tamil with sanskrit mix. Majority of malayalees speak and understand Tamil. But only like half the population of Tamils could speak and understand full Malayalam. But All Tamils could understand malayalam and get the meaning of their conversation by picking the Tamil and english words in their conversation 😉. We Tamils never considered malayalees as non Tamils or any other person. They are also Tamils. And no other Indian states have this much of brotherhood like Tamilnadu and kerala✌️.

Malabathrum leaves were used in cooking and for distilling an oil used in a caraway sauce for oysters and many more... And, malayalam is derived from tamil so not a lot of difference but they changed a bit to make it sound different (Try saying this ....."BA-RA-DHA-NA-TI-YAM"..... it will be easy to pronounce that...
