The irony is probably that Alan himself would hate you saying that. Because you are him and he is you. But then he would love that he hated it. Because he knows it's all an act. And then he would smile. And then you would smile because he smiled, knowing that his smile was your smile. I love you seriously because I am you and you are Alan Watts and Alan Watts is me. We are the experience. Man just imagine if I took some psychedelics. I never have but just try to imagine.

I used to do this. These days I'm not this way. I stopped by noticing it and how it made me feel. After observing it more and more, it no longer happened. No formal meditation needed, just remember to pay attention to the behaviors that make you feel anxious. The brain will take care of the rest! Also, check out feldenkrais - which teaches you how to reconnect your body to your mental state.

@@jjrecon3024 Interesting analogy. Thank you for sharing as well. What would you say to the notion that we are always in a state of clarity and that taking action to get to that state is impossible, like trying taking a trip to the place you already are? Ive watched and read a lot about alan watts, but this one little 9 minute recording is one that hits home the hardest when it comes to trying to understand how your brain works. “There is an expression in Chinese which means “the flow of thoughts” or what we call “streams of consciousness”, and so you will notice that thought follows thought follows thought the thoughts arise and go like waves on the water. All the time they come and go and when they go, they are as if I’ve never been here. So actually, this shows your mind doesn’t stick, really. You could get the illusion of it sticking by for example cycling the same succession of thoughts over and over again, and that gives a sense of permanence… and it is from these connecting of thoughts that we get the sensation that behind our thoughts there is a thinker who controls them and experiences them, although, the notion that there is a thinker is just one member in the stream of thoughts. But you know, in your stream of thought and experience I am in object, and a very fleeting and passing one, and concert also in my stream of experience you also are people who come and go. We are all living in the same world. We think, there is “me” and there is an “external world” around me, but I am in your external world, and you are in my external world, and if you think about that you see we are all in one world going along together. There isn’t really the internal in the external, there is simply the process. It’s very important to get rid of that illusion of duality between the thinker and the thought. So, find out who is the thinker behind the thoughts. Who is the real genuine you?” -- Alan Watts

Watts reminded us: that every inside has an outside, and vice versa (e.g., organism/environment). This polarity of inseparable opposites are ‘two’ that are also ‘one’ thing or process. Each implies the other. This appears to make polarity and non-duality the same. Thus, thinker and thought, higher and lower selves…etc., conceptually form non-dual unity that ‘go together’ like two sides of a snake as it swims-in polar tension. Concave/convex: different, yet the same.

We look outside ourselves all the time. We make the mistake of comparing ourselves to others. Most people enter relationships with others in order to feel complete. People can't make themselves happy, they look to others to do that for them. I like being isolated from others.

Realizing you know nothing is the first step. Like when a baby i born he/she knows nothing, A blank slate. Once you realize you know nothing, it's as if you were re born, or reset. This time navigate the dream selfishly. What I mean is do not let external factors such as asleep people aka egos fill your head with a bunch of bs. Think for yourself, question everything, analyze everything, be playful with everything. Be aware that ego will try to reform a new self, as ego is stubborn as hell. Keep an eye out for whenever you're speaking opinion rather then truth, if you can be hyper aware and catch when ego tries to make it's move, you can push it back away into the void, and it will have to wait to swing by again to try to create another self.

You are more than ready if you already want to be able. Same here. I usually pause something- think for a bit -watch it again. It’s a lot better when you take time to understand each part. They start flowing together and making more sense the more you process one thing at a time in your head. anything you really want to remember too- I found it helps to repeat it about 3 times in your head and your subconscious does well in remembering.

I'd recommend you don't watch this at all. Though the quote in the description couldn't be truer, if you pardon the figure of speech there. You can know that by having basic understanding of the basics and fundamentals of physics and piecing that infomation together with that of how we experience our memories.
