As a white person (who is not into overly spicy food) I think the reason so many white people don’t do spicy is because our traditional food is based a lot on English food which back in the day the couldn’t get spices (unless they were rich). So everyday people ate blandish food. There is a whole food theory about spice that explains it really well. As they say in the video, it’s not as much race as much as cultural exposure.

I would have liked to see them tackle a hotter sauce for the final challenge in order to get a clear winner. The Mad Dog 357 Gold Anniversary edition claims to be around the 1 million Scoville heat units level and makes for a more appropriate last test in my opinion. A downside of extract sauces that go beyond that heat level is that they usually taste abysmal. So just bearing their taste without a meal and drink to go with them would not be any fun I suppose. Anyway, it was a fun episode with a topic that I enjoyed. Thanks to the participants! :)
