That's a cool idea! However, in the Tinker Bell movies (mostly the Pirate Fairy), Tink and her friends all sound like different bells to humans. I like how no two fairies have the same bell jingling sound when they speak. Still, it would be interesting for different types of fairies to sound like their talent :) Sorry, I recently went on a Tinker Bell movie marathon haha

yeah that would've been nicer because lots of fairy jiggling bells when combined would probably be loud and then people would notice some ringing bells. so with the purpose of being invisible or not caught by humans, nature sounds would make sense.

I always thought Pan was a fae as well; just a different type of fae. There's a myriad of different fae, fairy, pixie, etc and what they usually share in common that makes them fae is their particular, if not whimsical types of magic. Their appearances can even vary greatly from homely looking brownies to angelic like fairy; even goblins are theorized to be a type of "fae." As "fae" was often like the European equivalent to the Japanese Yokai. A Yokai isn't a monster, it isn't a demon, or a beast, a Yokai is simply a Yokai. That is what they are and that's much like how Fae are in European mythology. Fae are Fae, not demons, spirits, or monsters, they're their own category. So, I honestly believe Pan is a type of Fae and considering the longevity of those who go to "Neverland" I feel like Neverland is actually a unique form of Fairy Mound. Like Pan's own personal pocket dimension styled like his native home in the fairy mounds. In fact, if Pan was a human turned Fae, he might even be a Changling. It's thought that if there is something wrong with a fae baby, they will take a human child and leave their child with the human who's child they took. That child will then take on fae aspects after living among fairy for so long whereas the fae child will take on more human aspects for the same reasons.Pan being a changling would explain a lot, actually. Why he feels a need to "save" human boys who's parents abuse them/doesn't love them/doesn't appreciate them. Like how the fae have no qualms with giving their "damaged goods" to new parents for their "healthier" child. Fae rarely respect humans that aren't raised by them directly, or who haven't done something to earn that respect, so many view the parent as someone who could be abusive anyway and feel like they're liberating the child to a better life. If Pan is a changling and basically being half human half fae, that may be why he restricts himself to only children who are clearly unhappy and "abused." And also why he feels so justified in taking them away.
@strogy15145 жыл бұрын
That is a pretty good theory
@cheflaurel74535 жыл бұрын
I think I may have an idea as to a possible type of Fae for Peter to be... "At first Mrs. Darling did not know, but after thinking back into her childhood she just remembered a Peter Pan who was said to live with the fairies. There were odd stories about him; as that when children died he went part of the way with them, so that they should not be frightened.” - Peter Pan by James M. Barrie Peter Pan: child psychopomp, a conductor of young souls to the afterworld.
@RikkuTakanashi5 жыл бұрын
@@cheflaurel7453 That's very possible. Though, considering the "lost boys" stay with him for who knows how long, and the fact that Wendy and crew actually went back, idk if he is a Shepard of dead children. I've heard the theory before, but considering it seems you can go back and forth to and from neverland, the fairy mound idea seems more likely, imo.

I have always wondered about Peter's ear's and how in some Disney-products he is referred as fairy boy at least in finnish.
@skysmindgarden5 жыл бұрын
Well, in J.M. Barrie's original book, he was put in Kensington gardens as a baby. Fairies came one night, "adopted" him, and took him to Neverland. Also, in the book, Peter trims (slices parts of them off) the lost boys so they can fit in Hangman's Tree. It's possible that he wanted to fit in with the fairies, so he cut his ears in that specific way.

The idea that an animal talent fairy might be able to directly communicate with humans is interesting. However, there is a more direct communication pathway in the Disney "Fairy Dust Quest" book trilogy- Prilla (the only mainland/clapping talent fairy) CAN DIRECTLY communicate with humans when she is using her powers as seen by the fact that a lot of the children begin to clap for Neverland when she asks them to do so.

How interesting. I never saw fairies as speaking another language; simply they were so small, their voices sounded high pitched like mellifluous jingling. They're supposedly so small, they could only have one emotion at a time. It would make sense they can only produce so much audible vocal sounds. Captain Hook does have exceptional hearing however. In the Pirate Fairy, he is able to hear Oppenheimer's clock from another room. Even hear it once it's inside the crocodile. So perhaps, Captain Hook has exceptional hearing. He did repeat Zarina's orders right away and Perhaps he's not deciphering another language entirely. He's just able to hear it better than anyone else. Naturally one doesn't notice a faint sound right away unless it's persistant or it's pointed out by another. Which leads to the Lost Boys and Peter Pan. Maybe after so much time with Tinkerbell, they were able to hear Tinkerbell's voice and not jingles. Her words are just hard to make out. That's what I thought

Hey Isaac, can you do a video on all the properties of pixie dust? That would be so cool!

I have a theory. Hook, or rather, James Hook understood Zarina and Tinkerbell talking due to a made animal talent pixie dust. I recall Zarina throwing her alchemy pixie dust elements to Tink & her friends and all of their talents got switched at the waterfall when they tried to talk it out with Zarina. Technically, humans are the highest form of "animals" as science puts it. Thus, I think Zarina sprinkled it over Hook first. It just could be possible that Tinkerbell's connection with Zarina may have given them an opportunity from animal talent pixie dust to be able to understand Hook and Peter. Tink might have sought help from Zarina first when she, in early time has then just met Peter - lost her magical hammer - explained by a video made by the channel TheThings with the book "The trouble with Tink". Furthermore, given that Lizzy and the lost boys could understand through hand signals or symbols and things, I think spending time is something that goes along with the animal talent pixie dust only for Peter Pan, and in the past, for Hook just to comprehend each other. So far, just their time together seems a little more curious than just long time bonding.

My theory, (which I got from someone else) was that, when a baby laughs, their laugh goes to Neverland, right? But sometimes, the fairy doesn't make it, because they get caught in a fire, or other unforseen circumstances. So, when the fairy doesn't come alive, the fairy language stays with the laugher, so the laugher understands fairies. So, Peter's fairy never made it to Neverland, and Neither did Hook's.

Not sure if fairies ever had a written language (although the Disney books mentioned an ancient 'Leaf Script', almost like a human's Latin or Sanskrit; see the one book with the baker, Dulcie), but with time and memory, maybe they can assume certain words with certain jingles! Plus, Pantomime and Sign Language seems universal! ^^

Huh, and here I thought the Fey speak in an ancient tounge. But I guess it would make sense it would be bell sounds.

In the original book, Tinkerbell found him and raised him and he was the first Lost Boy. Also the cartoon version of him, he has pointy ears like the fairies so I always thought that he was part fairy and that's how he knew what Tink was saying, but that could also symbolize that Tinkerbell had raised him.

That is pretty obvious that if someone wants to learn something they must be patient and take time to know the language

So many good comments and insights! There is a book series that gives another version of Peter pan and explains why and how the dynamic duo can communicate. Its lovely! Peter Pan and the Starcatchers.

Can you do a video o n the lifespan of a fairy? I've always wondered that when I was younger.
@aderptedpotato72075 жыл бұрын
From what my 10 year old self recalls, they're pretty much immortal and can only die if someone says "I don't believe in fairies," or in some sort of fight.
@amandahealey22165 жыл бұрын
That's what I thought too, but at the end of The Never Beast, they said that they would never see him again after his 1,000 year sleep
@aderptedpotato72075 жыл бұрын
@@amandahealey2216 maybe it's because a fairy realistically can't live that long due to humans saying "I don't believe in fairies" or getting eaten by a hawk or something. I think that would especially be true for Fawn, since she's an animal fairy.
@elementsfanfics38595 жыл бұрын
I've always believed that they're like nymphs from Greek mythology. They are eternally youthful and never grow any older, but the destruction of the thing that created them can destroy them. For the nymphs, they die if their life force giving tree/river/mountain is destroyed. For the fairies, the outright lack of belief in a nearby human is what can cause their demise. I believe they are also comparable to nymphs in the way that, although both can technically live forever, its rare for them to actually succeed due to the fact that they can die of injury and illness as normal humans can. The chances of a fairy living past 1,000 years would likely be very low and, based on how short the species has been known to be around, it is possible that the fairies are maybe even unaware of their immortality.

Well I remember in one of the movies I think “Hook” it mentioned that Peter was half pixie from his dad his dad was a pixie that turned into a human but pixies can only be human for 2-3 days until they die and his mom was human who gave him to a adoption home so she can fit in a war so since Peter is half pixie he CAN talk to Tinkerbell.

In multiple tellings of Peter pan it's said tink found and raised Peter, but in the new pan movie it says he's half fairy half human.

Maybe peter pan is related to link from legend of Zelda. LOL. Just kidding.

I think Peter Pan was a fairy who wanted to be a human to help those who would become the lost boys. If he left neverland for too long then he would grow up, so he stayed . Peter can understand tink because he was a fairy at one time but he could never go back to pixie hollow which was why we never saw him in the fairy movies. This could also explain why he could fly . The lost boys can because she has learned how to mime and she has been around them long enough to be able to communicate. This may be out side of different time lines (like the reason why hook could understand that pirate fairy) and other story arcs but This seems like an interesting idea.
@RhysTheCompanyMan5 жыл бұрын
Dang this is a quite good theory, but sadly peter pan is just a lost human who got raise in the neverland before any of the others. I personnaly believe that his ears are either the result of his prolonged time in fairy powder, his years spent in the neverland, orrrr simply because the makers of the movie said "pointy ears sells good.".
@maddoxjantzer6955 жыл бұрын
Maybe James hook didn’t learn the fairy language at first, but the pirate fairy was a fairy who could communicate with animals and even humans! Then science she trusted him she taught him the fairy language later! Hmmm🤔
@jessiefyler37515 жыл бұрын
In the movie Hook, it was stated that Tinkerbell saved Peter as a baby and was raised by the fairy's. Maybe that's why Peter is able to understand fairy language, for all we know the fairy language is Peter Pan's first language and human speak is Peter's second language.b

I would like Disney to show how Tink and Peter met. They did Pirate Fairy with young Hook and Smee but have yet to show how Peter met Tinkerbell. In the Tinkerbell series. Although every other Hook or Peter Pan movie addresses it, I would love to see it in the Tinkerbell series since they introduced Hook in Pirate Fairy. I love how they expanded on the idea of fairies changing talents in the Pirate Fairy. It was addressed in the original Tinkerbell I was just happy to see them use Zarina and her dust keeper abilities to change Tink’s and the other fairies talents.
