@3:00 I can't believe that is 2000 years old and looks that well preserved! It's the coolest piece of textile art I've ever seen.

I also can't believe it. To the point that, well, I don't believe it.

These funerary textiles are mind blowing, the last one is completely insane!! I find meso-American art peculiarly fascinating, it's incredibly rare to stumble on something like this. the intricate motifs and the incredible quality of the work look so surreal even today. Personally I don't think that the imagery represented is just a representation of the agricultural cycle. I think it represents a spiritual experience brought on by their shamans and use of their psychoactive plants, it could be a representation of their complex spiritual belief system illustrated on a funerary blanket. We are very fortunate to have found these relics!

They were created 2500 years ago. The area use to not be a desert.
One unique human trait is art in time consuming detail. Culture 💖

@@DjWellDressedMan Not 60% of the world's food no matter how you choose to measure it. The Paracas are recent - only 3,000 years ago - that's whom I'm asking about, not the early aboriginals of 15k years ago. They had dyes, textiles, agriculture, pottery & water management, plus a nice line in sacrificing their citizens when required - so what is it these people knew that's "more than we take them for"?

They were created by an advanced civilization before the great flood.

No they weren't. Apart from anything else, the lines are made simply by separating out different colours of loose stones on the desert floor. To make lighter lines, they simply tossed all the darker stones elsewhere. If there had been a "great flood" the lines wouldn't have survived.
