Great video! Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I like having a base as a place to call "home" to store a few things and have a place when I visit family. But I change countries every 3 months ish. So I guess that makes me digital nomad, sub-category: slow traveler with a base. Labeled!

Haha - glad I helped you get yourself inside a box ;) I guess I'm the same - I store things at my parent's home (aka base) and then travel to each place for a few months at a time. It's nice to know there are so many options out there :)

Interesting to see your definition! There's so many ways to be a nomad. But I can imagine that some people get a bit precious with the definition 😅

Thank you for this. I have a home base in Clearwater (just ranked by travel advisors as the #1 beach in America) Florida, which many around the world consider pretty exotic, but I can come and go as I please, and it gives me a place to do my planning and editing of footage taken many places where good editing and uploading is not possible. I am currently looking for other bases around the world that I can purchase. These will be put on airb&b when not there. So while I have bases, I am still very much location independent.

BTW, I just uploaded a video of my home video studio that I use.

That sounds fantastic! I think having a base (or a couple of bases) is a really nice way to do things :) Gives you the feeling of home but with the flexibility of being a nomad

Yep! I totally agree with everything you are saying here. Location independence is the first step. What you do with the freedom it provides is up to you. Be a nomad, stay put, do what you want.

Great video. Just wanted to say I’ve spend all my career in London, but thanks to your inspiring video I’m gonna try working abroad for the first time for a couple of months. It’s a bit scary but heading the right direction! :)

Nice topic Louise, I'm glad your addressed that. I was wondering what most people would consider a digital nomad. I must say, I think you are my favorite KZbinr! You are so sharp, and cheerful, and smart, and informative, I love it! You'd make a good wife. LOL!

@@digitalnomadgirl I think I've mentioned this before. But I'd love to see a video about Lake Tahoe, which is on the border of California and Nevada in the US. Near Reno Nevada. It's one of the Premier ski destinations in the world. If you ever make it out there I'd love to see a video about it. It's great in summer time too.

@@digitalnomadgirl yeah I've been a bunch of times. But I'd like to spend a lot more time there and explore the area more. There aren't too many good videos about the area. Except ones that are super touristy . Maybe I will make one someday. LOL!

I've had a rough time in Bangkok and right now I'm not location independent at all. I passed out multiple times a few days ago, messed up my back and now have developed infection and other issues. So, 10 days into the voyage I am stuck for who knows how long. I really dont like Bangkok at all either. As soon as I feel a little better, I am heading south to Koh Samui for a few weeks. I need some cleaner ocean breezes and nice beaches. Hopefully there, I can start enjoying my new lifestyle. Cheers!

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear that!! I hope you've found some good medical care. My experiences with Thailand medication have always been very good. The beach sounds like a great cure - look after yourself! Hoping for a swift recovery!
