The fact that there's a three-way battle for the same song. Shows that the true star it's not the vocalist it's Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis Robert's version which is the farthest from the original keeps that Melody which is undeniable leaves me thinking that anyone who can keep time and carry a tune can have a moderate hit with this song. That being said vocal performance undeniably Mariah Carey even though she added some amazing bells and whistles her lead vocal was a complete mimic of the original Cherrell. Honestly I think Cherrell version allows the track to be the star and she supported it very well. And Mariah case the combination standout voice standout track equal overproduction unnecessary vocal runs missing the mark for that cohesive sound
