My mom was just 60 when our dad passed from Leukemia, mom lived another 32 years, keeping close and busy with 2 grown daughters and her grandchildren through the next year's. I think when someone has family close by to get them up and out, to keep them physically and emotionally engaged it makes a difference. My mom's sister lived to a month shy of 101, she outlived her husband by 18 years.

The one death on December 31st that was surprising was when Ricky Nelson died in an airplane accident. The saddest part was that his mother, the wonderful Harriet Nelson, didn't find out from the authorities that her youngest had died, but from the media wanting a soundbite from her.

I just wanted to give you both a huge thank you for all the hard work that you do. Growing up, my parents would always check in the paper for the obituaries. I thought it was weird and couldn't really understand why. Today, newspapers are almost obsolete and Facebook seems to be the obituary for those we knew casually or personally. The problem with Facebook is that you have to randomly find out the hard way by visiting an old friend's page and seeing it is now a memorial page, or catch someone's post by chance a year or two after the fact. It's heartbreaking, really. I have tried to keep up with most of your posts and also know I can go back later if I missed a few. I never realized how much it can really knock you for a loop seeing so many faces you grew up with from television and the news pass away. It is also interesting learning about people I had never heard of. Sadly, it is also a reminder of our own mortality. Some people may see it as a reason to celebrate each moment. Alternatively, some may start to worry. Either way, it is information for the books. I am glad you take your time to do it. Happy New Year! 💖💖💖

Outside of notable locals, I have to go online to find out who’s passed away. The local newspaper, like many; is a shadow of itself. It costs $400 just to put an Obituary into print, & the relatively new (20 years) newspaper building was just torn down for a new development.
@saralynn518
@saralynn518 18 күн бұрын
@@jamessimms415 $400? Do we live in 1454 (printing press up and running)? I used to deliver the newspaper when I was a kid. I did it for about 6-7 years too. The dark ink that would make my hands feel slippery after a while, the slightly acrid scent that would stay on my "delivery clothes". A twenty-year-old building is just getting started! What a waste of money and labor! When will people get that we can't waste resources like this? That's a different convo.

@@nesheiwg😢 BELOVED WIFE, MOTHER, SISTER GRANDMOTHER LELA MAE ODOM SEPT. 3, 1926 MAY 24, 2022 Obituary Lela Mae Odom, born second twin to Nute and Annie Bell Lindsey, September 3rd, 1926 in Reader Arkansas. She received her formal education in the state of Arkansas with a vocational degree in nursing and cosmetology as the owner of Lela's House of Beauty in Little Rock, Arkansas. Lela worked for the Los Angeles County Hospital for 20 years. She accepted the Lord at the age of 9 years old under the leadership of the late Rev. Moore at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, North Little Rock, Arkansas. At age 12, she came into the knowledge of Holiness being born into the Church of God In Christ, baptized in the Holy Ghost and Fire in Humnoke, Arkansas. Under the leadership of my dad, the late Elder Nute Lindsey, Lela worked in the church as a musician, youth teacher, program coordinator. She loved singing and playing music for the glory of God. She moved to California in 1957, united with Revelation Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the Late Superintendent Edward Davis where she worked faithfully until 1960. She united with Emanuel Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late Bishop S.M. Crouch. Lela sang in the choir, taught vacation bible school until her marriage to Elder James E. Odom in 1975 where she began working in the ministry with him all over. Together, they worked at Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) channel 40 for 10 years as prayer counselors. She loved praying for the sick, visiting the elderly in rest homes as well as working with children. Lela was united in holy matrimony in 1946 to Elder James Clark. To this union, three children were born. She moved to California in 1957, the mother of six children whom she loved dearly. Lela became a member of Harbor Christian Center in 1986 - 1984 under the leadership of Pastor Don Ezell. After a short hiatus working with her husband (Elder James E. Odom), she returned to Harbor Christian Center in June of 2011 where she remained faithful. She also worked with her twin sister and husband, Elder George & Lula Mae Clark, at Heavenly Vision Church of God in Christ in Los Angeles, California. She loved singing and playing music for the church. Her spirit was received in the Hands of the lord on May 24th, 2022. Preceding her in death were two children; Bobby Ray Clark and Tammy Yvette Wilkinson, three brothers; Johnny Lindsey, Nute Lindsey Jr., James Lindsey, along with three sisters; Jannie Lindsey, Rose Hatchett, and • Lillie McGuire. Rickey Henderson was tough for me. He was such an exciting player, not just as a base stealer, but also as a leadoff hitter with power. I saw him play in person many times, but my “favorite” time was a game in Baltimore when the A’s were at the Orioles. As I was settling into my seat at the start of the game, Rickey was at bat and just when my butt hit the seat he got tossed for arguing a strike call. So I didn’t see him play much but I got to see his fiery side.

As a new pastor in northern Indiana, I was told that, if the cemetery ground is green (from warmer weather, when seasonal “bugs” don’t get killed off) at Christmas, it will be brown (from multiple funerals) at Easter.

George... I grew up on the music of Wham, here in the UK, and then loved his solo stuff. One of the most beautiful male voices of our time.

You are both so lovely to listen to, even though the news is always sad. We know how respectful Legacy is regarding deaths n privacy and the way you both deliver this solemn news is always very caring. We, the readers, watchers n listeners should always remember tho, apart from the well known celebrities or known faces….there’s us regular everyday unknown souls who pass everyday without anything special to be remembered for…. To all reading this, please pray for those beautiful souls too…that will be you and I someday. Thankyou…Lisa , Perth Western Australia 🩵💙🩵🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Betty White's death was the icing on the shitcake that was 2021. Also, seeing the death of Teri Garr was the first time I ever shed a tear during any of your videos.
