i would have loved if Xabi came back, but he decided it wasn't the right time and I respect the decision. Maybe he comes around in the future, maybe he does not. Either way, you have to respect the man's decision in the end. To that end, I hope we are able to get Amorim. His reputation with leadership and man management are really important even though they don't appear on the stat sheet. I am not too hot on De Zerbi. The things he has been saying about his club lately are not a good look. But I think Amorim could do really well with the team he would inherit.

I agree that there is no-one currently managing in the Premier League who could take over at Liverpool. Benitez and Klopp both had experience of winning League titles in their respective countries (and in the face of bigger opposition) and both became CL winners at Liverpool. That, alongside a willingness to develop talent, will be the key to getting the right manager. I'd love to know more about Simone Inzaghi and whether he'd be a good fit at LFC.

@CraigCumine-jn3uk No. Emery has done well at Villa but he isn't the right fit for us. Klopp is such a force in every way, that guy would get swallowed up in Liverpool. You need balls of steel to live here😂

@scotgeez4755 He manages in a weak league though. We'll probably end up with him but I don't see too many fans welcoming him with open arms at Anfield. Replacing Klopp will be brutal. Xabi realised that I think. I would have felt happy with Lijnders. I will politely applaud Amorim but he will have his work cut out winning us over.

That's not the mentality, we fully back Amorim if it's him. He's built statistically the best defence in Europe this season. It will be different but we will be there or there abouts under Ruben.

I'm surprised Thomas Frank isn't among the candidates being mentioned. Obviously his team has had an underwhelming season but as I understand his 'metrics' are impressive, and clearly he's been fighting an uphill battle, particularly without key players being available this season.

@@calumjunior7748based on what I saw just yesterday, United definitely don’t have a manager. Managers have substitution patterns and strategies. Like some people, I did foresee this before. So let me say it again... The only person who can continue what current Liverpool team is no one but Pep Lijnders. Why the board FSG so stubborn by ignoring that fact? By doing so, they make Pep seems as an outcast. My theory has proven correct - Xabi is not joining because he after RefVardrid, and because he feels intimidated to re-create what Klopp has done aka he's not ready yet. He may join in the future - after 5 years minimum. Especially if whoever replaces Klopp fails. It can be one or two coaches. So the fans can see Xabi as 'the saviour' without emphasizing Klopp legacy - which also ease the pressure for him. While Amorim, he will take a season in 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 PL to get better. Not to mention his team - assistant, data analist, GK coach etc. By then Arsenal will be ahead. Furthermore, City obliterated Sporting under Amorim 4 goals within 40 minutes in CL. I'm not sure he's the guy. De Zerbi, maybe... But truly mate, Pep Lijnders realized that FSG already distanced themsleves with him. That's why in the special interview, he had no choice to say, "I only go for the club who really wants me." That's the signal. Why is FSG so ignorant like that? It's the Bootroom, for Christ sake! Can data & metric show who can better the mentality, the mood, the atmosphere, the method, the training, the strategy, the style of play of Jurgen Klopp??? No! Just give Pep a chance! He knows the team in & out. He's the one who asked Klopp to change the play, or told him "it's for the subs". Like Barca gave to Guardiola who was nobody when he replaced Rijkaard who was a CL winner. Be wise FSG! This is a warning. One more thing, I encourage data about Pep Lijnders when he led the team when Klopp was out / delegate his duty. Pep never lose. Then we can see objectively how he reminds us all about Bob Paisley. YNWA!

why do people love to put words in Xabi's mouth? Why do these pundits keep talking for him and say Xabi thinks he's too green for Liverpool or Real Madrid Job? Has Xabi actually ever said he can't handle a bigger club than Leverkusen right now and that's why he isn't leaving? Why is it hard for people to believe that a manager can say no to Liverpool or Bayern? This is just ridiculous. For all we know, Xabi is fully confident of his abilities, fully believes he can get a top job whenever he wants and for now wants to focus on this current project. Personally speaking, I think Xabi said he wasn't going anywhere mostly to make sure the season doesn't get derailed and that they actually win the Bundesliga.
